Wireless with Leopard

Ok so I've been having quite a lot of difficulties connecting to my internet with my MacBook Pro. First of all my the airport program is quite sluggish, but once I try to connect to my wifi it asks me for the WEP password, so I enter it but then it says "connection timeout". Roughly once in a while it manages to finally connect but this is very irritating. Are you guys having the same problems? Any solutions?
