Hi there,

As you know, in my other post I mentioned that I had ordered an Airport Express base station with Airtunes to wirelessly network from my 24 inch imac to my existing Dell Dimension 8400 which is downstairs, using a belkin USB wireless adaptor. The imac will be upstairs.

The problem I have is that I need a router with an ethernet port in it, which I do not currently own. I only have an ADSL USB downstairs and it of course, has no Ethernet port or anything in it like that whatsoever. I have an Ethernet CAT5 cable and the imac comes with airport in it already.

The other problem is that when I try to contact my service provider it says my phone is barred from their helpline; I have no idea why this is. Maybe it is because I was online or something? But I have no idea, and none of us do anything underhand. My parents use the Dell to access email, browsing and all the basic processes. I use it to manage my iPod, my iTunes library and also some podcasting and the occasional game, combined with the basics.

Sorry for the lengthy post, but I really realy want to have web access on my imac (which is obvious really), without having to shell out more £££ on extra equipment. You would think that there is some kind of cable splitter I could use for the existing router, or can I get by with just using the Ethernet port thats already in the Dell?

I really DON'T want to use this Dell again. Please help me.

Yours most gratefully,

Joe.🙁
