In a van down by the river
It is really disappointing, (and frustrating) that my forum friends here across the pond have access to Law and Order iTunes while those of us in the states, only have the last few seasons. Really wish it was available. It is one of my favorite shows.

If any of the UK members have all seasons, ho is the quality of the iTunes rips?

RIPPED FROM THE HEADLINES...

I’m guessing you’ve “cut the cord.” Even with the most basic of basic cable packages in the US it is almost impossible to find an hour out of the day where some flavor of L&O isn’t playing somewhere. I’m guessing whoever owns the series is making too much money syndicating it on the US cable networks. If every episode were available for download it might devalue the product the next time syndication contracts have to be negotiated.

I have Directv Now. And you are right. The show can be found on at least 2 networks on a daily basis. I loath commercials and hate all the network ads that pop up on the bottom of the screen. It takes away from the enjoyment of the show for me. When in syndication, it is not uncommon for a network to cut out scenes to make room for more commercials.

A lot of the series in the UK is offered in HD which would be nice to have. I have the complete set on DVD. I was hoping not to have to rip the whole set to iTunes for my 4K Apple TV. Having the iTunes offering would be a lot nicer.

Ah ha! The earlier seasons were shot on film in wide screen. They had to be “downsized” for broadcast in 4:3. In the 90s HD sets weren’t really a thing yet.

I know for a fact that these early seasons are airing in HD on the cable channels. They’ve converted those original films into HD and they’re not ready to share yet.
