I wouldn't hold my breath on Apple announcing or releasing any hardware at all at WWDC. Quite frankly, I can't see Apple addressing any of the previously mentioned advancements or customer desires with the Studio Display in the near future. I suspect we'll see only minor updates for a few more years (possibly 120Hz). A 32" Studio Display is probably a fool's dream at best.

The OP @- rob - was able to resurrect this thread a year later with no changes. The question is, will he still be able to do so this time next year?

I think if we get a Mac Pro this year (see my post above), then we also get a refresh of the Pro Display. Regardless (refresh or no refresh), I’m looking forward to reviews that compare it with the new LG 6K with Thunderbolt 5.

As for the Studio Display (as opposed to the Pro Display), Apple will stay with Retina, so 27" 5K will always be the base. There is a Samsung OLED technology that will bring ProMotion (120Hz) to a Retina 5K panel next year, a prototype already exists. No doubt LG is also working on this. So the earliest a Studio Display with ProMotion could appear is next year. I think it requires OLED — there must be a reason why no desktop LCD (IPS) panel exists with both Retina and a refresh rate above 60Hz.
