iPad Pro With its 8 gbs of ram M1 expected life expectancy?

I would expect 4-6 years. But, being the tech geek that I am, I will probably upgrade before then. I just like new technology and it's a hobby of mine.
I expect it will last just as long as the 16GB M1. RAM isn't the factor for iPads.
Wow. I’m dumb. I thought this was in the MBA forum, not the iPP. Sorry for the erroneous vote.
In terms of OS support, definitely 6-10 years. In terms of being high performance with pretty much every app, probably 4-6 years. But most tech enthusiasts will probably be itching for something new in 3-4 years.
4 years ago, the latest iPad Pro had the A10X with 4GB RAM. Many of those owners that frequent this forum have probably upgraded or plan to upgrade soon, even though the basic tasks are probably still very functional.
For many here, functional is nice, but it’s preferred to be “cutting edge”. What that will mean in 3-4 years is anyone’s guess. Some have already predicted that the M1 will be dwarfed by the next iterations (which could also just be on Macs). What that will do to help with iPad apps, probably very little.
Maybe with better heat management, these devices will really soar, which could be another reason iPadOS 15 isn’t the big jump forward many had envisioned. With a next gen cooling system in place, we could see even more leaps.

Life expectancy isn’t just related to RAM, it’s also based on the processor. I’m pretty sure the combo of M1 and 8GB RAM puts this iPad head and shoulders above even the 10th or 11th gen basic iPad in the future.

Most persons on these forums who purchase a 2021 iPad Pro will have long since upgraded before the current iPad is not supported. An original iPad 9.7" will still run decently and will be continue to be supported in ios 15. It may not run some software very smoothly but for most of the things most folks do with iPads it still functions well. I have one and it still works pretty darn well. I'm wanting to upgrade because I'd like a larger screen, better speakers, ability to use a 2nd generation pencil, etc. But it's hard for me to say I really NEED to upgrade.
Unless Apple plans to greatly expand iPad OS support life for this model. I don't expect it to last more than six or seven years. Sure you can keep using it longer but app support will fade and you can't tinker with the OS like a Mac.
Because it’s Apple. They conditioned their consumers to want the latest and greatest. Not everyone has been successfully converted to this mindset, but enough of them salivate over Apple’s newest offerings. Nobody markets their products quite as well as Apple.
I watch every keynote, even when I’m not really in the market for anything new. I’m always interested in how well Apple can wow me. The thing is, I’m not like this with any other products. Just Apple.
Ref the iPad Air 2. It was the first iPad with 2GB of RAM and has received software update till now. In this October it will be 7 years old.😱
That’s more of an emotional question, more about excitement and marketing. For me I’ll get real excited when devices like those on The Expanse are released.
The 9.7 iPad Pro is still kicking strong but the RAM has started to be its limit. It feels slow now. But the iPad Pro 12.9 inch first gen doesn’t feel as slow due to the 4GB RAM. So these 8GB iPad Pros will last a long long time.

Nah. It's gotten way too expensive for annual upgrades. I'm upgrading from a 4-year old 2017 iPad Pro.
It's started to get glitchy for me. Sometimes Safari would freeze and I have to wait a couple minutes for it to load before it would respond to touch input. Admittedly, I use a crap ton of tabs.

That is, if iOS supports installing vm supervisor at all.Depends what you wanna do with it. I have 32 GBs and use containers and VMs heavily. 8GB wouldn't be workable from day 1
iPad screen will crack either way unless you drop it on a cushion.

Personally I target 4 year cycle of iPhone/iPad/new MBA M1. But for anyone who wants to juice it until it’s dry? You’ll get more years than 4.
What would be hilarious is if the scaremongers only ended up causing Apple to sell even more higher RAM M1 versions. It would drive them awesomely crazy.
