But again very very small. I have a 1965 Omega Seamaster in 37 mm case size and because it's awesome vintage design it's okay but this thing really should have been 40 at minimum

Like others, I really appreciate the restraint on these semi-smart watches. I'd much rather get months of battery life and do without all the bells & whistles of full smart watches.

I actually prefer the Nevo watch (which I have) to the Withings in terms of looks. Unfortunately, unlike the Withings, the software on the Nevo is horrible and I fear it may have been adandoned.

What are the other notable watches in this category (activity trackers with long battery life that look like traditional watches)?

This is my criticism as well.

I think Withings have got a perfect balance with this. It's just a shame their marketing machine isn't as powerful as Apple.

thats nonsense -- a good product with some marketing will do well. they dont have to have the same budget as the largest company on earth to do well. thus, there is no shame. if it doesnt do well its because of the product.

The fitbit hr shines in 24/7 HR tracking. I charge it when I shower and generally forget about it. Unlike the Apple Watch it does not need to charge overnight which is very useful for resting heart rate calculations. The closest competitor for me would be the basis, but it doesn't have the ecosystem that fitbit has and is a tank ( I much prefer something small ).
My Apple Watch charges 2 hours a day it does not take all night

I love my Activite (have the high end black one) - I wear it when I want to have a classier look for social situations than my Apple Watch provides. Still gets some use but most of the time I wear my Apple Watch.

Surely in practical terms 2 hours means overnight.
I mean if you take it off for 2 hours during the day it kind of defeats the purpose of the watch.
I take it off when I wake up and put it on before I leave for work so I get a full day and night out of it that included 180 min workout and sleep tracking with battery to spare so....

I don't need the watch while I shower and get ready for work etc so it defeats nothing

"How long is a piece of string?"

It all dependent on budget. If money is no object, I would go for something like this:

This Junghans is also stunning.

There's plenty out there. At a lower budget scale, you can look at Longines but also have a look at a lot of German watch makers.
Thank, will have a look. Though money is a object, so that first one, as stunning as is, I assume will be well out of my budget!

Infinitely more beautiful than the Apple Watch, my Activité Steel arrived on Friday.

My only con is the alarm doesn't have a snooze and I can only set one. I'd also like to have a bigger face but other than that, I love it!

Has anyone done a review of this particular new model and how it works alongside the Withings app on a daily basis? How does it track runs and swimming?

I'd be keen to see screenshots of the app working with the watch.

All Withings watches are identical in terms of functionality and there are plenty of reviews around.

I actually ended up upgrading my Withings watch to the top end Activité by returning my Steel and buying an Activité in the Black Friday sales.

I also bought a Withings Wifi scale which is also superb but I don't have much experience with this as I used it for the first time this morning.

The watch however is lovely and gets admiring looks all the time.

Thanks. I've got the WIFI scale but not convinced about replacing my Apple Watch with this.

Do you have some screenshots of the app working with the watch?

Does it just track steps?
