I know this is kinda off topic. But I couldn't help but notice you are a writer. I'm curious what word processor you use =D

Also, congrats on finding your long lost PowerBook! =D

My wife actually has one of these. It's a Powerbook G4 867 12" from 2003. It's pretty darn slow now, but after disabling spotlight and using click2flash, it's actually not bad as a web surfer. Hers is completely mint, though the box is in storage. Some year we'll get around to selling it.

I still have, and use my Rev. A 12" PowerBook from 2003 DAILY. It's been used daily for almost 8 years and it's still going strong! Cost me about $2600 Canadian when I got it, and its the best computer I've ever owned. I won't retire it until newly designed MacBook Pro's come out. :D

Kristenn my first novel is a memoir so I've been using Pages just to get my first draft done but will be soon switching to Scrivener as the writing gets more complex with characters, research etc. . Been hearing some incredible things about it. I downloaded a trial version yesterday and it looks fantastic! It's designed by a writer and I can't wait to get busy on it.

MacTech it is infact the 867. Yes, it will be slow and honestly, I doubt I will even use it but it was my first Apple laptop and there are some memories with it. I think I want to try and fix it just for the challenge. One thing is for certain, if I don't get around to it this trip I'm giving it away to someone on these boards to try and play with it and update the thread once done. I miss the keyboard on the old style MBP/PB. These chiclet keys don't work for me very well and yes to all .. it is indeed still a beautiful laptop. It's dated, chunky, but I find it's looks beat any of the current Apple lineup. Thin bezel, all silver keys, edge to edge keyboard. Nice little machine!

I think that even if you don't fix it you should keep it. You seem to really like it and I know that if I got rid of my first mac laptop i would be upset reflecting back years later. But i guess that's just me being selfish :p

Good Luck with the fix!

I had the rev.b with DVI that I adored, I used it daily since the later part of 2003 until the middle of 2008 I loved that machine, I gave it to my brother and he still uses it daily. I hope to get ahold of one of those 11inch MacBook Airs soon hoping to somewhat replace my old love :apple:

I just saw a guy last week at a coffeeshop using the 12" iBook G4. Still going strong!

I want to pull mine out, I have a 12" iBook G3... ;)

I still use my 12" Thinkpad X31 - something about those 12" square screens that are still very comfortable to carry and view. I bought an 11.6" WS netbook and it still doesn't compare... :(

I gave my first notebook to my mother. It was the Black Macbook maxed out with 4GB ram and 250HD. It is a great little machine but I still like my 15" Macbook Pro that took it's place better.
