A hamster feels as much pain as a cat or dog or even a human. And there's a big difference between animals eating other animals, which is a part of life, and killing one with a hammer for a stupid reason like this.

Child abuse, in the UK at least, includes mental abuse. The social services would get involved here if this got out.
