Amen Mr. A!

I currently have a workbench full of items I am trying to finish up before Christmas. I chuckle when I think about the clock I am working on right now. I spent $10 on materials. Sounds cheep enough until you add in the $20 bar clamp and $30 router bit I destroyed making the thing! But I enjoy the look of my family's face when I can say I made it!

You should see the handcrafted replica lightsabers I made for my nephew last year. (I didn't keep any photos...darn.)

oh this is so stupid - Wal-Mart should have done a little more to placate her....wouldn't be surprised if there was a lawsuit.

I've come to dislike the whole shopping frenzy myself. There's no point in it, especially if people get so intense.

Why are people out shopping....for Christmas, right? Where's the Christmas Spirit? This retail rugby is a sad commentary on what this whole season has become. We'll be forced to listen to Christmas songs for a whole month, told what we're supposed to buy....blah, blah, blah....

No scrooge here - I love Christmas, just this commercialization and over zealous marketing - save the most *here*. People need to think more about why they're buying the things and less about how much it costs.

One of my favorite gifts are always the ones I make myself, framed pictures or other personal touches. Knowing I plowed over the rest of the shoppers to get a DVD would not make me feel good about giving the gift to someone.

'Yeah honey, you wouldn't believe what I had to go through to get this DVD.....'

Time for a new thread on the best gifts

You remind me of my favorite Christmas TV show.

A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS!

Not too far from reality really. It almost seems like Christmas is all orange aluminum nowadays.

I love 'Linus and Lucy' too. Probably my favorite TV theme.

It's the thought that counts

If somebody bought me the cheapest bargain DVD player they could find, I'd say thank you but I might not be very impressed. But if I realized that they risked their life to get me that cheap DVD Player, I might be a little more appreciative!

Trampled Woman Made Prior Injury Claims

ORANGE CITY, Fla. (AP) - A woman who was trampled by Wal-Mart shoppers at a holiday sale has filed numerous injury claims, including several against the world's largest retailer.

Patricia VanLester, 41, is a former Wal-Mart employee who has received thousands of dollars from the department store giant in injury and workers compensation settlements.

VanLester was first in line to grab a $29 DVD player at 6 a.m. Nov. 28 when she was knocked to the ground by a frenzy of shoppers. She spent the weekend in the hospital, and her sister, Linda Ellzey, said she suffered a seizure and other injuries caused by the stampede of shoppers.

VanLester has filed nine worker's compensation claims against Wal-Mart, and her sister has filed one...

...Mark O'Keefe, a spokesman for Volusia County EVAC, which treated VanLester at the store and airlifted her to a hospital, wouldn't comment Friday on whether it was possible for VanLester to have faked her injuries. He noted that she was admitted to the hospital's trauma center.

"The hospital admitted this woman for two days," he said. "What does that tell you?"
All it tells me is that he sister was jumping up and down on her, she's has really poor coordination, or she's working on a Darwin Award.

Either that or the actual Wal-Mart buildings are haunted and trying to kill her. ;)
