Hello,

I have had an Apple Watch since 2015. I first had a stainless steel one then went for gold aluminium for the series 2. I’m going to upgrade to the S4 and I was thinking of getting a space gray one. It seems pretty cool with a tan leather strap, but not sure if it’s versatile enough with other bands, and during work etc.

Are there any other women out there wearing a black or space gray model? Do you find it’s versatile enough? Are you ok with wearing it to work and going out?

I actually have a proper watch for more formal occasions so it’s not as if this will be my only option, but still good to know some views.

Thanks!

What do I think? I think a good quality Brown leather strap will look so much better than with a sport aluminium silver or gold. But not the other bands. And apart from the amazing looking leather band, there won’t be too many work friendly options.

It won’t match my wedding ring but nor would the others (don’t want to spend 600 pounds on stainless either).

This is clearly not a real problem or issue, but whist want to know what other women felt after getting a black watch. Did they regret it? Did they love it?

I'm have the space grey AW3 and so far looks great with all of my bands. I have the product red, (very sharp), sapphire leather, fog, black leather, nike sports, white, midnight blue modern leather, and brown classic. You can't go wrong with the space grey.

That’s good to know! I bet the sapphire leather looks great with it and the brown classic one.

I have the space black stainless and I love it! It blends with the black face better and think any color band looks fine with it. I even use my silver Milanese band and think it looks really good!

You should take a look at the "for women only" accessories thread. Lots of pics of different watches and bands.

I've had space grey since day one. When I updated to S3, I again chose grey. It goes with everything.

I just bought a 42mm space grey series 3 and I love it! Can still wear lighter colored bands with it. Right now I have one from Amazon that's black with pink dots. I have several Michele watches for more dressy occasions, but I wouldn't have an issue wearing my black Apple watch either. if someone else has an issue, they can find something better to do than judge me or my watch. :)

Had the alu grey and silver and.. well both were a bit awkward or even cheap looking with a lot of bands and straps. Ended up with stainless steel silver which sorted everything out.

Been in the mood for a black SS with black leather strap recently, for something a little more military chic, but.. again, could easily regret that as the black SS really doesn't match many straps so good, mostly because of the lugs, but.. lugs are changeable:

I was lazy before, but if I do go with the SS black I'll start changing lugs to polish the look off. That said, the stainless steel silver is definitely the one to get for men and women who want to strap swap a bit especially as the hardware on straps tends towards silver so it's the no-brainer. Muted military shades are definitely the direction to go with black casings. More formal and work looks are trickier though. It's just not really possible to get a look as classy as you can with polished silver paired with navy/black/greys etc.

The coated black Panerai with tan strap is a classic example for how to pair a black watch and it seems you've discovered this already with your choice before:
