After yesterday's announcement we now know Apple has taken *Corning's Gorilla Glass and made it even more durable with a proprietary ceramic crystal processes. Does the Watch also use this same glass? Seems that Apple would start added it to all new devices now. Could be that Apple didn't want to announce and save for the iPhone. Also maybe Apple decided that it could hinder Sapphire Crystal sales some.

Any info on this?

*Also I think this is the first time Apple has officially stated that it uses Coning even though it is know to use since the original iPhone.

True but as I stated: save it for the iPhone. After all the iPhone is Apple's "bread and butter" and Apple probable sees the need for all the hype it can for the iPhone in the current economic environment.
I can see where you're coming from, but this hasn't always been the case. Features like OLED, Force Touch (RIP), LIDAR, and the A14 (as well as the A4) chip were all publicly introduced on other products before making their way to iPhone.

I suspect the Ion-X Glass is still very much unchanged. If Apple wanted to market it, they would have. Also, there’s always been multiple reports on other threads with some members experiencing the same type of minor inconsistencies with scratches/scuff with the S6 Sport Model.

In addition, Apple doesn’t market the sapphire, Most consumers don’t even opt for the sapphire as it is, let alone they don’t know what it is. I don’t suspect Apple would be concerned even if it did include the ceramic shield on the sport model that would sway stainless owners, as they/we want the aesthetic of the actual more ‘premium‘ metal, regardless.
