I just got a new macbook a week ago. Everything was peachy until I went to write "New zealand" & realized the capital z did not work but in capslock.

I found one thread from so long ago about a guy who had this EXACT same problem but there was no outcome posted.

of course I've been on the phone with apple & no amount of troubleshooting got the z going.

It also makes that "goink" noise when I try to press it.

ANYONE heard of this particular defect or what causes it?

Just curious.

just checked my shift -z works as it should I would agree that it is a possible key mapping issue
