I genuinely just can’t imagine a plus sized phone being ALL screen (minus notch) and if in same fashion from 8 to X is a bit taller, what kinda finger jumping jacks my hands will be performing to wield that thing

A HUGE screen would be a really cool offering but I wonder how practical this would be

Even some very comfy plus owners I feel would struggle

But idk

It would have to have an iPhone version stylis/pencil

iPads work just fine, and no one would even think of using it with one hand, so it would basically be a tiny iPad that also makes phone calls.

I’m more concerned about the weight, the X is heavy enough to carry around all day.

That’s true

It’s weird that the 7plus (and 8plus of course which is even heavier) are heavier than X but feels not like it in case of 7plus at least because of its bigger size and weight distribution imo

A hefty X plus could be over the top

Someone had mentioned pinky fatigue a while back and I just didn’t understand why this wa an issue or really what they are talking about. I can handle the iPhone X or Plus just fine. It wasn’t until I was using my 10” I pad the other day and realized it was resting on my pinky. Not enough to cause concern but I did notice it.

I guess I have large hands and/or a very strong pinky? I don’t know. I don’t think an X plus will be unmanageable.

I hate the X, I went to the store to return it and I was 2 days late. I have to call costumer service.

Basically I had my 5 that was not working well because Apple sabotaging the system in order for me to get a new phone... with the same apps! I got the X.

Basically I feel I replaced a 20" flat panel monitor for a 50" CTR TV. Heavy, clumsy, the changed the things that worked for new things that doe snot work.

The face ID pops all the time, it was faster to type my password on the 5 to unlock the phone. The iPhone X is Apple's biggest joke to make money out of something worst.

I am going to get an 8 probably or a 6, I do not know.

Lol it’s basically going to be same size in hand as the 8 plus

Not that I think it'll be an issue, but I think that the OP is considering the fact that with the reduced bezel it will make it even more difficult to reach the edges of the screen one-handed. It'll have the same footprint as the 8+, but possibly be more cumbersome to use.

I don't believe the 5 was impacted by these changes. i could be wrong but my understanding was 6/+ & 6s/+ are the only ones on record

One handing an X plus (100% of the time) is likely impossible.

It will break your hand, guaranteed. Not the size. Not the weight. But the physical act of forking over at least $1500...that will cause physical injury... :D

Meh... someone with a daily habit spends that on Starbucks each year. It's all relative to your situation. Obviously the X is a luxury good / status symbol and its price reflects that. Besides... Plastic weighs the same no mater how much you spend.

I may just be a freak. But with a tiny amount of shifting around I have no issues using the X one handed. I don’t know if I’d choose a Plus model again. I feel like 5.8” is big enough. I’d be sold if they made the current X a smidge wider but I don’t think I’d ever need a 6.5” device.

Not to mention, most will pay monthly installed payments as it is for a speculated $1,200.00 device in that price range. No matter what though, the rumored 6.5 iPhone X is my preference for 2018, being the 5.8 X is slightly on the small side for me. However, I will never view an iPhone as luxury good, it's a commodity and a tool to me for everyday purposes. There are other things I consider luxury Over an iPhone, but I see your point in the status of the iPhone X.

They way I see it in the current lineup the X isn’t offering significantly more for the price premium over the 8/+ if they all run the same apps and all have relatively similar hardware specifications the X would be a luxury / status good.

Did you need the best possible iPhone canara? Is Touch ID impossible for you to use (perhaps a disability?) maybe you have a specific work need for the x. Those are pretty legitimate reasons to bypass the 8.

For most others though, it’s about status. The day will come when all Apple offerings will reflect the x design and at that point it’s jist another mobile phone.

I agree the status factor is their. Similarly how Apple tried to sell a $10,000 18 K Gold Apple Watch, which they wanted to market it more than a smart Watch, it was also a status (Fashion) Item.

The iPhone X is very similar. It's for those who want the latest technology and experience. But for my own personal use, no iPhone at any price point will ever be a status symbol for me. It's device that I view nothing more as a tool for me to connect to the world around me and that's all I need it for. The other reason is I don't view it as a luxury item is because it's merely a piece of tech superseded by something else a year later. But everyone else might have differing opinions.

I see overlap but hardly striking similarity between a 10k Apple Watch I’ve never seen in person ever

And X which I’ve seen handfuls of by now but admittedly nowhere near as much as other iPhones. Maybe I’m just not observant but not seeing a ton of 8/+

Lots of 6’s and 6s (idk which one) and 7

And some 5/5s/se

+300 from 4.7 and +200 from 5.5 plus is hardly the 10k jump To scare away all but dumb trust fund folk

It's the marketing sense behind the Gold Edition Apple Watch that Apple wanted it to be a status symbol And smart Watch, not the fact who actually owned one or what you saw in person.

I think Apple Products have always been a status symbol, but we are seeing smart phones verging on new limits approaching $1200.00 price points, but for those who own A $1,000 iPhone X has the status symbol, being it's the top (And most expensive) iPhone.

True but not much more in my view in real life than Apple wanted it to be,

I think they had bigger dreams than the reality panned out for X to ultimately be a luxury item, and its more just an even more overpriced iPhone but with changes that are appreciated (bezel trim mostly)

the Plus was the more prestigious model too, and the Jet Black being 128/256 only last year.

What? You kidding?
No really... heavy? Lol!!!
Try carrying a 40 foot ladder around all day so you can paint high areas he he... iPhone heavy.... ha ha ha ha... wow!

That's just it, Apple didn't know what the potential was for the Apple Watch and where it would lead. They also severely undermined the April 2015 launch as well with stock inventory being their expectations were uncertain. The Gold Edition existed because Apple wanted to define a demographic for this price point and label the Watch as a status symbol. However to spend a $10,000 on a smart Watch is ludicrous, but not for the individuals who could afford it.

I don't think The Plus model was prestigious, as much as it was the "Bigger" iPhone with more exclusive features. Until the X arrived, its about what the consumer is willing to spend for the latest device with stainless trim, new form factor, Face ID, etc.

Wow, aren’t you just so witty. Yawn. Wonder what this place would be like without the rude insulting needless comments. Does it make you feel better or more important?

I think you're right about the economics. The question is whether people will feel that way, especially if there's a noticeable difference compared to similar Android phones.

Too big for me, but I'll be tempted depending on the software features they bring to it. Majority of my iOS productivity gets done via iPad Pro so I am not exactly clamoring for a larger X at this point.
