Whenever I select "Restart" from the apple menu, my macbook pro won't shut down and turn back on, it just goes into a hibernation that is somewhere between sleep and off, the sleep light stays on without "breathing" and stays that way with the hard drive spinning. Requires a hard restart then I get a message that says "OS X quit unexpectedly" yada yada yada... Also, I saw a few things about the USB, I'm using the same aluminum keyboard & wired MM combo I always have.
so I copied the panic log here.

You might try disabling or removing DoubleCommand. Its kernel extension is showing up in the log, so it could be responsible.
