So out of the blue, my Apple Watch running lasted WatchOS and iOS Beta 12 just stop syncing my contacts. I've done everything from restoring, and even using the Watch App to resync the data. The calendar works but my contacts aren't syncing. So when I get a message, it's just the number and not the name. No contacts are in it either. So I can't make a call using Siri.

Thoughts?

There is nothing you can do (other than BR it). It is a known bug in the 3ed beta (2ed public).

What you mean BR it? Happened to me, tried everything I found online as far as solutions & Apple support they are sending me a new series 3 watch instead. Any way to remove the latest beta update and just go back to the original iOS 12.0 public beta? I had it before, all worked fine until it stated there was an iOS update then it wouldn’t sync contacts.

You can downgrade to B2 and your contacts will sync, and then reupdate to B3. Be warned, if you are on WatchOS 4 and iOS 12 if you MODIFY or REMOVE contacts YOU WILL LOSE THEM ON YOUR WATCH

I was already on iOS 12 beta 2 with 4.3.1 on my Apple Watch when I updated to the public beta 3 then the contacts issue happened. So if I restore my phone back to iOS 12 beta 2 there’s no guarantee it’ll fix it. Not sure if it’s worth risking or just waiting it out for another update fix.

I had the same exact issue and tried everything. I ended up removing the iOS beta from my iPhone X, restoring it and my watch and my contacts worked again.

I was thinking that maybe I’ll re-install the beta, just to see if the issue arises again.

You can shift-update to beta 2 and back to beta 3 without losing data and it'll restore your contacts in 15-20mins

Link/instructions on how to do this? I have the same issue.
Download the Beta 2 IPSW, open iTunes, go to the place where you see your phone info, shift-click (on windows, not sure about mac) on Check for Update and select the IPSW, wait for it to finish, your contacts should be synced. Reupdate to beta 3 VIA OTA or download the IPSW and repeat the first steps.
If you modify or add contacts you will lose them because they will attempt (and fail) to resync

Perfection! Resynced. Now to update to beta 3 again and see if it holds...and NOT modify contacts :)

Post back and let us know if your contacts hold. I unstable do the beta and went back to the factory 11.4.

If your contacts stick, I may re-install the beta

So are you saying that AFTER you re-sync your contacts and they’re all good, if you do any type of modifying them .. whether add, deleting or editing the contacts....that will cause them to stop syncing ?

So far so good . I'm keeping beta 2 as a backup.

This is strange, I been on public beta for a while now but just yesterday this happened. I came by here to start a thread but this was the first one. So to fix it I have to remove beta 12 from my iPhone?

Glad it’s not just me. I installed iOS 12 beta 3 and all my contacts have disappeared from my AW3 on watchOS 4.3.1.

I’ve tried everything from resync data through settings in the watch app, unpair and repair and still no contact names in the contacts tab of the phone app on the watch, or the messages app.

Will do a bug report now.

While on the topic of messages app, doesn’t iCloud messages sync all your messages in the cloud? I unpaired and repaired and now my messages app is empty with no messages shown.

Go to your icloud settings and physically turn on iMessages on iCloud. It's not on by default...

Seems like alot of work to get contacts back on my watch. Yes I agree, super annoying but hopefully it's fixed in the next beta.

If we dont see a new beta tomorrow or Wednesday I may rollback to beta 2.

New Public Beta released today. Just installed it. Hopefully it fixed the syncing issue
