I know it's my fault for still having a Windows machine, but...

I can select sync w/Outlook, and it says it's syncing w/Outlook, and then nothing syncs. A temporary fix has been to import my contacts into a Yahoo Address book and sync with that instead, but Yahoo only imports those contacts with e-mail addies and discards those without. So I have an incomplete contact list on my iPhone. Also, this workaround doesn't address the calendar feature, for which Outlook is the only Windows option.

Any other Windows sufferers out there with the same problem? Maybe even a fix?

Muchas gracias.

Fix: Problem with iPhone Outlook Contacts and Calendar Sync

This worked for me this morning...

Open iTunes.
Open Microsoft Outlook.

In Outlook follow these menus: Tools - Options - Other - Advanced Options - COM Add-Ins

Make sure "iTunes Outlook Addin" has a check mark.
Make sure "Outlook iTunes Sync Addin" has a check mark.

Click Ok to close.

Restart Outlook.

Perform Sync in iTunes.

Both Calendar and Contacts now Synch fine.

When I do this the "Outlook iTunes Sync Addin" goes back to being unchecked after I restart. Anyone got any ideas?

I'm having the exact same problem. Has anyone found a fix yet?

Thanks,
Ben

Outlook Contacts and Calendar not Syncing

Same problem. No solution as yet. Also.."Outlook iTunes Sync Addin" doesn't retain the check mark after re start. Tried numerous 'work arounds' to no avail. VERY frustrating. I welcome any suggestions.

I would really appreciate any information on a fix to this as well.

One thing that seems to have worked for me is this...

Go to Calendar Properties, make sure that for "When Posting to this folder" use "IPM.Appointment".

contacts fix for outlook

You need to open up Outlook and click on Help, About Microsoft Office Outlook. On the bottom right hand corner you must click on Disable Items... Next Enable the Itunes sync option and close the window. Next go back into the Add ons and checkmark the boxes once more. This time they will stay checkmarked. Then connect your Iphone and sync your contacts!

Please Help Me!!!

Tim,

I have tried all your ideas on how to get itunes and outlook to sync. It still doesn't work. What else can I do?

Outlook crashes instantly when the iTunes add-in is enabled. To open Outlook, I have to first disable the add-in. At least I now know why the add-in won't stay checked, but I'm no closer to getting it fixed.

I hate Microsoft. I see a new iMac in my future...

*** FIXED IT ***

I went to Help in Outlook and to the Disabled Items under the About Outlook option. I enabled the iTunes addin and closed Outlook. But before restarting Outlook (which is where the crash occurs with the add-in checked), I reinstalled Office in its entirety (just trying to repair it didn't work).

Bingo!!! When I restarted my machine and opened Outlook the iPhone instantly synced its calendar with Outlook. I changed my contacts sync option in iTunes to be Outlook (I had been using a Yahoo address book) and it synced it straight away.

I'd tried all the fixes I'd found on the net, and none had work before. I think the trick here is to enable the iTunes add-in, but then reinstall Outlook before reopening it. Hope this works for those of you still suffering.

Fix didn't work

I'm going crazy here! You guys are coming up with some great fixes, but none are working for me. Please help!

ARRRGGH!

My Outlook fix (above) works, but only for a while. Then Outlook crashes and won't open until I disable the iTunes add-in again. If I repeat the fix, it'll be ok for a while but then it'll crash again.

Looks like I'll have to wait for MS to fix this bug or buy myself a Mac. I'm guessing the new iMac with Leopard will comes first...
