Woot! iOS4 Jailbroken withn a day!

I'd like to know what people use this jailbreak for. It seems that Apple has squashed almost every problem we've had with iOS.
 
How did this thread get hijacked? It has gone from announcing a jailbreak for 4.0 GM (which doesn't actually exist - somewhat deceptive title), to people talking about what they like about jailbreak (daydream in a topic that is surrounding daydreaming).
 
I am now the proud owner of a jailbroken 3GS on iOS 4.0 GM. Sweet.

Still experimenting with packages to see what works and what doesn't. Will update this post when I have more to share.

Working:

iFile (except web server)
AT&T Carrier Logo
Flashlight

Not Working:

SBSettings (I think this is a LibActivator problem)
Music Controls (Settings panel doesn't load, suggesting a deeper issue)
Infinidock (Causes SB crash on restart, Safemode on reboot)

I think the one thing that most of us are the most concerned about is MyWi, and frankly I'm no exception. ^^ Any chance you could give that one priority treatment? Long story short, my internet access at/for work depends on MyWi, but I really want to upgrade my 3GS to 4.0, too, so I'm a bit conflicted, as you might guess!

I'm afraid I can't. I don't own a license, and I absolutely refuse to install Rock.

I would stick with what you have if MyWi is mission-critical for you.

What steps did you use to JB? My baseband was upgraded when I upgraded to the iOS4 Beta last month. I'm on 3.1.3 right now though.

You make an excellent point there. As it stands, I'd like to update, but I'm hesitant for exactly the reason you point out.

Um...did you read and do you understand the whole tutorial? In particular, did you understand the terminal commands in step 3?

It looks like things that require updated MobileSubstrate Hooks may take a while. Meanwhile simple things like carrier logo fixes seem to be working okay, and standalone apps like iFile are working well.

Yeah I figured it out. All of the terminal commands worked. I didn't unzip it.
 
I have a question that hopefully someone can answer:

First let me tell you what i am running:
iPhone 3Gs
iOS 4.0 GM (my phone has never been Jailbroken before)
Carrier: AT&T 7.0
Modem Firmware: 05.13.04

The question, if i use the iHackintosh method (http://www.ihackintosh.com/2010/06/jailbreak-iphone-3gs-ios-4-gm-with-pwnage-tool/) to jailbreak my 4.0 GM, will it work. I noticed something in the instructions that said you need to be on an already pwned 4.0 beta.. so does that mean i cant do it?

Also - with my current baseband, will i be able to unlock once jailbroken?

According to several other threads in several other places, MyWi does not work currently. PDANet does, however.

In addition to the not working list:
WinterBoard
MobileTerminal
Basically, anything that requires mobilesubstrate.
