I'm not sure if I should buy a screen protector for my X. I didn't use one on my 6s Plus, and all I ever got was micro-scratches on it. Here reading because I'm wondering what others are doing...
Shouldn't that encourage you to get one then? - If there were micro scratches on it, then it saved your screen from getting those micro scratches.

Or getting a better quality one at least?

FYI Caseology ones don't match properly with the notch either as the edges are not round enough.

Anyone know which ones line up perfectly with the notch? About to order a new one..

None that i've found yet (other than the ridiculous $40 Belin one in Apple stores from photos).

Ordered a few sets on Amazon (with reviewer site codes, so not in them more than $4 for a 2 pack each) and none fit exact at the notch. I bet they made them off of the mockups and were a mm or 2 off.

It's close enough honestly for the price, but is still annoying.

I bought the ghost 3D on amazon and it fit perfect but but as soon as I put a case on it the edges started lifting off

I don’t want to use one but the caudabe lucid clear really needs one as no lip protector

I was thinking why I never ran into this problem. I generally buy the edge to edge so I just line up with the ear piece and everything falls into place.

I bought edge to edge ones, and they fit PERFECTLY in the leftover space of an iPhone X with the silicone case. Installed it with the case on and you cant tell its on

Theres something really repulsive to me about seeing a screen protector on an iPhone. Theres no logic or reason to it, I just hate them!!
There's no logic or reason for protecting a screen of a AU$1,800 device, where just one scratch will put off your experience every day for as long as you own the device?

I meant there’s no logic or reason to my extreme dislike for them.
But to respond to your point I also don’t really care about scratches on the screen. As long as I can still see the content then it doesn’t really affect my experience. Viewing the screen through a protector is more unsightly to me than a few scratches.

Ok thanks for clearing that up. :D

I can't stand scratches myself...any little line & my screen's ruined as far as I'm concerned heh.

View attachment 731658 I was always taught to install screen protectors with the phone turned off. As you can see from my photo below, it was a big failure. If your screen protector is anything like mine it is cut to the exact layout of the screen, making the notch especially difficult. Because my screen was powered off, I didn’t mind the notch up with the glass correctly. It looks terrible because it’s not precisely right! Don’t be a dummy like me. Install with your screen powered on!

Anker Karapax brand have an alignment device. Made it very easy.

I just paid Apple to put this Belkin one on for me. I usually go cheap and do it myself, but I didn’t have one ready and I wasn’t going to cut corners with a phone this expensive.. and it comes with its own warranty

If I had known I was getting the X last minute, I probably would have prepared screen protectors in advance. But I’ll keep this advice on leaving screen on in case I have to do it myself someday

Got any photos of Apple's application?

Got any photos of Apple's application?

Unfortunately I do not. But the device and procedure is similar to the one featured here:

https://www.cultofmac.com/411586/u-s-apple-stores-offer-machine-applied-protectors-for-iphone/

From the best I could remember... The genius who sold me the phone basically got the screen protector, confirmed with me that she will apply screen protector, then unboxed my phone and peeled wrapper. She got a sticky sheet (I think from screen protector packaging?), and applied on the screen, rubbing it several times. She prepared the applicator machine, then peeled sticky sheet from phone and set phone in machine. She took the screen protector, peeled one side, then peeled another side and aligned on top of phone in machine. There is a top arm on the machine that she swung close, and pulled a flap sticking out at the front of the machine, which I supposed exposed the sticky side of the protector to the front glass of my phone.

When she lifted the top arm of the device open, she pulled the phone out, wiped it off with a cloth a little bit, inspected the application very briefly, rubbing parts of the surface (air bubbles? Or lint?), then put phone back in box and told me I’m all set. Application looks great. One side has very very slightly more “glass” than the other, but the screen fits within viewing field of screen protector. I’m happy with it :)))

Edited for clarity
