Word slows down my computer to a crawl. It takes several seconds to import a photo, and crashes if I drag and drop a photo. istat shows 99% under processes for word. What is wrong with my word?

For whatever reason I don't think word is optimized for the macs. I have an crappy Dell (at least 3yrs old) at work and word runs better on that machine then it does my 3.06 MBP???
As far as your word goes, maybe reinstall it and see what happens...or just pages with iWork?
I use Word for school, but I have been thinking of trying out iWork. I'll probably have both on my computer.

hmm, my dad has a an aluminum imac from 2007 and it seems to multi-task w/ word fine. maybe u just need to reinstall office.
I heard that leaving MS word running in the background for extended periods hogs system resources.
INSTALL SOFTWARE UPDATES.
