Anyone know where one can download this, or is it simply just 5.0.1 beta 1 (or beta 2) just re-packaged for people that are having issues?

If you update to the beta and either dont have something setup with apple, or have the device in the developer portal, your likely to have an iPhone that doesnt work.

One more observation. When I charge my new 4s, from 28 percent to 99 percent it only takes like 15 minutes. My iPhone 4 would take hours to charge. Leads me to believe the whole battery is not being utilized.

Try using the phone until it dies completely, then charge it back up to 100%. Your battery meter probably isn't calibrated.

Here's an older post of mine that explains how battery meters work:

I have a dev account with Apple; I was just curious is the build apple is seeding to these people is newer than the 5.0.1 beta 2 that's available in the developer portal.

I ended up going back to 5.0 anyhow, as the 2nd beta made my battery worse; it was decent with beta 1, but far worse with beta 2.

Anyone knows if they will fix the camera roll glitches? Every time I take a pic and scroll through the camera roll, I noticed that the pictures are full of pixels...maybe stucked rendering...not sur.e:eek:

trajen,

i too have the same issue. are you running exchange? if so try disabling your calendar and see how you are after a few days. the exchange calendar was my main culprit.

My battery life sucks so hard. Sprint 4S, down almost 1% each minute, no matter what I do. I turned down brightness, close out all my apps from the multitasking tray regularly and turned off all system services in location settings. :(

Not running exchange, just iCloud.

You iPhone 4S BETA Testers are on the left.....................Us iPhone 5 Users are on the right with our hand on your shoulder.

Thanks Suckers

Why was this product released with this problem?

Perhaps they didn't know about the issue until it was released? For one thing not everyone has the issue which makes it a tough bug to squash. Issues like this sometimes don't reveal themselves until tons of people start having the same problem. Since the iPhone 4S is in the hands of well over 4 million people that are all running different apps and using their devices in different ways, an issue like this is going to be discovered more quickly than it would be with the small amount of test units Apple uses before launch. Certainly Apple wouldn't have launched with a known issue like this because it makes them and the product look bad.

Yes! More support for the Aussie language!

And battery life - hope there is something for iPhone 4 users too as my battery life is suffering.

I love threads like these.

They make me feel better about myself, because I don't have any of the problems you guys do with iOS 5, the battery, apps or anything else.

I hope they're also working on the bug that causes whole photo libraries to corrupt and that ends up crashing the Photos and Camera app.
Agreed - I too was nailed by this one... it took restoring from a week old back up fix my photo roll/albums..

Yeah I agree. Most of these people are clearly passing along a corrupted backup file. They need to start from scratch and stop being such blanket draggers with their precious backups they've had since the first iPhone.

I have a 3GS and I have no problems at all except for my Wifi not working until I fixed it by toggling Airplane mode. Feels good man.

I have a 4S that seems to be working fine.

iCloud account set to push.
Exchange account set to fetch every half hour.
All location services on.
I probably send/receive 150 texts a day.

Right now I'm at
3 hours 16 minutes usage.
12 hours 54 minutes standby.
46% battery.

I'm very happy with that.

Why all the negative votes?

Hey bnkr612

Mens sana in corpore sano...

As a bodybuilder patient of mine once said of above -- pick one.:D

"Clean mind, clean body. take your pick."

As I recall, this is a quote from many years ago. wasn't it from a comedy duo back in the 60's or 70's?

Anyway, i cannot understand why all the negative votes. Its funny!!!!!!!

I also have a Sprint iPhone 4S. Having the same issue here. Some days are worse than others. Not really sure what's going on. I'm really glad apple's working on the fix, and I hope it comes soon! :)

They shouldn't have rushed iOS 5. If they had taken more time and done more testing, this wouldn't have happened.

Complex systems will always have bugs because you cannot possibly test every single permutation. It often takes significant scale before you see an issue, or an issue may pop up once, but no amount of effort can enable you to recreate the problem. Eventually you have to make a decision on whether or not the product is good enough to release.

I had the battery issue the day I bought my 4S. It went away after the first full charge and I had a friend have the same thing happen to him. For some reason, the issue popped up again today on my phone. There is clearly something going on with a system process because I killed all running apps and restarted the device. The problem persisted and the phone was hot to the touch.

I'm a dev and had resisted installing the beta, but I may do it now to see if there is any impact good or bad. I'd really like to know what build Apple is seeding as a part of this customer testing program.

Yes, the issue might still have happened. You can't catch everything. It's a fact of life in the software business. If you take the time and money to eliminate all bugs, you might as well not even release the software because it will be outdated by the time you finish all of that testing.

They didn't rush iOS 5. They took a long time trying to get things right. Bugs happen.
