I am working on a project for a class and wanted to get some input on my current work. I have started the design phase of a website and wanted to get some feedback before I start coding everything.

All I have at the moment in an image but please any advice that you can offer from it would be great and much appreciated!

Take a look at it here: http://ronnycarr.com/rrj_design_1

Wow, that looks really great!

It's hard to comment much without seeing a full content page, but "so far, so good."

The only thing I notice is that the crown image above "jewellers" appears a little, hmm, 'fuzzy'.

Anyway, it looks nice, can't wait to see more...

I would ease up on the shadowing on all your elements. The 3D effect is too in your face and that trend has come and gone. You might want to just ease it up and go for more subtleties on the shadows.

Work something out with your typography on the headings to add some additional color to the site. Don't really like that type and line-height on your copy.
