If you bring your phone it uses gps. If I run with my phone on my precisely measured 2.0 mile run it registers 2.0 miles every time. When I leave the phone at home it measures 2.1 to 2.25.
It is dynamically calibrating as you run. It is not mapping. Also I have well over a 100 runs all with my iPhone, except for indoor. I have experienced accuracy from spot on to well over 10% off.

I also use a Garmin 620 and Nike+ on my iPhone on every run (3 recordings) and have supplemented with various other devices too.

Runkeeper do have different distance then work out. While using the same iPhone. Looks like it's not using full GPS

Couldn't that be a problem with the A-GPS on the phone which uses cell towers to "help" find a gps location... Runkeeper recently measured me at 0.2miles on an elliptical machine with my phone beside the machine (laying still) because I used gps instead of stopwatch mode and it thought I was a little distance away and realised I wasn't - and showed me going there and back on the map while clearly I hadn't gone anywhere.

When you do your crossfit and trx session what do u choose?....other?
I am very active.
Run, Swim, Cycle, heavy training routine, triathlete, and much more. My SUUNTO Ambit 3 puts the AW to shame.

But in fairness AW is a gadget, not a precise instrument like the well engineered SUUNTO products.
