When I am in mid of a workout, there is a tiny Workout icon (in green color) appearing at the top center of my watch face. I can tap on this icon to jump to the workout app. Someone told me that this small icon is supposed to be animating (the icon showing a running animation) when the workout app is running. On my watch, this icon is always just a static image. What is the correct behavior of this icon?

It’s the workout green running man when used as a complication that animates not the status icon at the top.

Are you certain? I am referring to the tiny little green icon here (see inserted watch faces):

Somehow, I remember that even this little icon is animated when a workout is active (not just the larger complication).

Yep dead certain - the one at the top that you are referring to is a status icon and it doesn’t animate.

The little guy at the center top does not animate. BUT, if you have the Workout app as one of your complications, then the Workout complication will animate. But the little guy at the top center of the screen is never animated.

Thank you to all who posted here with your replies. Good to know that the icon in my Apple Watch is supposed to be like that.
