Is there any way to check the heart rate from a previous time? Inran 10 miles this morning and forgot to check the Hr

You can check it on the Health app on the iPhone. Go to Health Data --> Vitals --> Heart Rate --> Show all Data and you will see a list of readings.

I went for an outdoor cycle yesterday and it was such a joy to have something motivating me. Everything seemed to be accurate and what I noticed is that it also tells you how many calories you burned based on your heart rate.

Open the health app on your phone. Navigate to health data - vitals - heart rate - show all data. You can find all your HR info there from the watch.

How do you change the Stand goal? Force-touch on the Activity app on the watch only seems to give me the option to change the Calories goal.

i thought using the other option for tracking only checks heart rate periodically. While the others are constant heart rate on. Constant would be most accurate.

Yesterday during my treadmill walk / jog / run / sprint / incline up / incline down (recorded as 'other') - I looked down and saw 420 calories on the machine but only 300 on the watch - my resting heart rate is between 55-65 (as low as 42BPM during sleep - exercise 5 days a week / lift / cardio / HIIT) - does that mean my heart rate is pretty good and greater exertion is needed to burn more calories?

It took me an hour to burn a solid 500 calories.. I've been trusting the machine(s) all this time, thinking I've burnt 670+ calories in 50-60 minutes!

I think you can only change the calorie goal, as I was looking to change the exercise goal yesterday & couldn't find any info on how to do it.

Ive only tried it once but it works perfect and accurate, however the watch shows that i burned slightly more calories then the running machine did. Not sure if its a problem tho :D

as said, HR monitor is great.

my only concern is that the watch cannot account for fluctuations in stationary cardio dynamics (e.g., incline, speed) and therefore may not be a great indicator for caloric consumption.

as a weight lifter, I'm dealing with the same types of limitations in resistance training. not sure the watch will ever be able to do better than iPhone apps, which generally estimate calories burned during weight training.

I've really enjoyed using the activity app so far. It's fun watching your progress throughout the day and the encouraging notifications aren't annoying.

According to the latest Consumer Reports video the HR monitor is just as good as their top chest strap monitor.

Steps are off for me, the phone was more accurate, I checked it to the data the phone gets from motion to the watch data.
One small walk
Watch 2,438
iPhone 2162
Not too bad, but the phone was better, actualy amazingly accurate.

Heart rate will occasionally show some way off numbers, you have to go into the health app and check vitals, show all data. Sometimes see 45, 75, 73, 73, all with the same time stamp. I would hope so n the future apple can just dump the clearly off ones, I actually delete them myself.

Thanks to everyone discussing in this thread, food for thought and feedback is great. Especially for people who are browsing the forum looking for this kind'a firsthand information.

That is exactly what it means. Unless your machine has heart rate telemetry with one of those chest straps, you should believe the watch over the machine.
