Installing World of Tanks on Mac OS X

There is a fairly simple video on this here:

1, You need an Intel Mac
2, Get Wineskins from here : http://wineskin.urgesoftware.com/tiki-index.php?page=Downloads
3, Get the dmg image of the pre-made WineSkin App for WOT from here : http://www.paulthetall.com/world-of-tanks-mac.html

Follow the video instructions. Pretty simple.

|Personally its better in boot-camp. But this takes up way less space and you don't have to reboot each time you want a game.

This works for me. While I still use bootcamp on the macbook air, Macman runs this as an app on his HD4000 i7 based macbook pro and its fine (40fps).

I tried WOT 0.8.5 in four different ways on mac:

On my imac 27'' i got this results.

1 - Wine-devel +winetricks from homebrew. It works OK (no crashes but the mouse from OSX appears on the game) but i get poor FPS even in Lower settings- ~20/30 FPS
2 - Vmware Fusion it works amazing. Medium settings ~40/45 fps
3 - I tried Parallels 8 Trial and also works amazing. Medium settings 45/50 fps. But it seems to me that the vmware textures sometimes are a little better. But overall i feel that the performance is better than Vmware Fusion.
4 - PlayonMac. Works but i got random crashes.

As you can see you can play this game on mac and have plenty of options to do it. I will try to buy Parallels 8 which seems the best option to play this game but vmware is also a good option.

It seems to me that you get more FPS than me on wine i will try to investigate what's in that bottle.

----------

Just for the record in my tests even with other games (Arctic combat/Counter Strike) i get decent performance on Virtual Machines.

For the OP, do game updates cause complications when using wineskin?

ahh havent tried, but as wineskin is a bit like a vm it should be fine...

when i get chance i'll give it a try (as my wineskin is 8.5 and 8.6 is now out there).

So I have been trying to install this using Wineskins and following the tutorial but I failed every time.. error here and error there. Not sure why it's not working but I'm sick of it. I think it's time to install Windows

Folks PlayOnMac has it working really well for me.

Inside POM, you click install, select the Games tab, and World of Tanks is in there.

You simply select to install that and let it run. Once the Launcher for WoT starts, click the little gear/cog in the top right, and and turn off Torrents/Peers downloading. If you don't it will crash constantly.

Let it download the game, and you're all sorted. :)

There is the occasional crash to desktop, but you can instantly relaunch it and it'll load back into the server.
There's also the odd graphical issue, like purple/blue tanks haha.

Such as in the top left of this video
