Blizzard-Entertainment_World-of-Warcraft_-Mists-of-Pandaria-1.png

Blizzard has announced that the fourth expansion for World of Warcraft, Mists of Pandaria, will be released for Mac and PC on September 25.
Unlock The Mysteries of Pandaria

You've ended Deathwing's destructive rampage and saved the dragonflights from extinction.

Now you must unlock the mysteries of the lost continent and discover the dark secrets of Pandaria's past. Explore ancient kingdoms hidden since before the Sundering, plunder vast treasures from the depths of the forgotten vaults, and rise to defend Pandaria from the shadow of a long buried evil - before it's too late.
As is typical for Blizzard, it will be offering two versions of Mists of Pandaria: a standard edition for $39.99 and a deluxe edition for $59.99 that includes a unique in-game mount, pet, and banner.

Users can pre-purchase Mists of Pandaria via Blizzard's Battle.net service and begin playing at midnight on release day.

While PC-only, Guild Wars 2 is where it is at next month :p

Also, does anyone else find this expansion kind of creepy?

Still waiting for Blizzard to announce that it was all just one big April Fool's day joke.

Why would you think that this is a joke?

Clearly you have never played Warcraft 3 and used the pandaren drunken master. If it's in WC3, why not WoW?

I stopped playing a while ago, but their new talent system seems interesting. An attempt to make it so it's an actually choice instead of a cookie cutter build like many other games (and older versions of WoW). I just dislike the idea of 15 per month now. ;)

Which came out long after Blizzard created the Pandaren Brewmaster in Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne.

----------

please, blizzard, stop.

Stop what, exactly? Blizzard never takes its games so seriously as to not have fun with them - and only a WoW player should care if more WoW expansions exist, it's no longer affecting the development cycles of their other games (including a new MMO).

some people dont know that blizzard had drunken master panda in 2002 warcraft 3, kung-fu panda came out in 2008

Ok, I am a former WoW nerd myself, (playing Diablo3 now) but how is this relevant to Macs and therefore being on the 1st page of MacRumors?

It's under "More stories" for me on the side and not one of the main articles

I wasn't pointing out what came first, nor do I care. The point was they look similar. Warcraft 3's panda's didn't look anything like they look now.

I wish they'd bring out Warcraft IV instead. A real Warcraft IV :p, WoW is definitely not that.

Cataclysm is the worst for cookie cutter talents. With barely any talents and barely any points to go with it, players can't deviate at all from the "standard" build for a specific spec (i.e. resto/boomkin/feral), or they'll run out of points and have a crap build. At least pre-Cata, each class generally had a few different builds they could use for each spec.

WoW appears to be dying, signified by player numbers dropping quite dramatically; the only thing to stop the bleeding seems to have been the "free Diablo when you buy a year of WoW" offer. Pretty desperate if you ask me. Notice too that Blizzard don't report average users online, only number of active subs. Many of which are now active, but unused due to the Diablo offer.

The game used to be great, but it's slowly declined from the mid-late TBC days. Some parts of WOTLK were good, such as improved artwork and less copy+paste, but WoW's being slowly converted into an easy to play kids game.

While I don't disagree with what you say I think the main reason people are stopping is because they charge $15 a month. Only very serious WoW gamers are willing to spend $15 a month for 4 years.

I "was" one of them.
I tested the new one on my new cMBP and to be honest. Even at the lower graphic settings playing for more than 3 hours isn't good for the new MBP because of the GPU heat generated. Averaging 80 degrees Celsius isn't good for a system over a few hours.
