I am counting the days for the release of TV+. The first I would like to watch is SEE. Btw, anyone knows ‘truth to be told’ will be released on Day-one?
WWII related movie / series is always catching my eyes

Between this, Amazon’s Lord of the Rings series, The Orville, Top Gun 2, and The Mandolarian, I think I’m going to be in entertainment heaven for the next few years.

I wonder how fast Apple will be able to pump out shows with now having an in-house studio. I just wish Apple created a standalone app for Apple TV+ instad of just including + content in a tab. So SEE and this show I'll having to watch.

Separate from the terrific storytelling, part of what made Band of Brothers and the Pacific so great was the gritty, realistic visuals showing the brutality of war. I wonder if Apple will shy away from the nastier side of combat. Hopefully they won't "Disney" this tale.

War is bloody, the language used in combat isn't clean. It will be interesting to see if they go with a PG version of the air war.

The greatest war movies of all time have pretty much all been PG. Great producers and directors have never had a problem conveying the horrors of war, without the gratuitous violence and gore you seem to suggest is necessary to tell the tale. Maybe go and watch classic movies like "The Longest Day," and you'll see that you don't need to have a Texas Chain Saw massacre approach to convey the violence.

That would be moving backwards. I’d much rather have all content searchable, categorized, and viewable in one app.

The current state of streaming is like if in 1975 you had to have one TV set for NBC, another for CBS, and a third for ABC.

I agree with you, but the two shows that are relevant to this story that people are citing as being the reason they are excited for this sequel were not PG at all.

It says "Of all of Apple's 20-plus shows already greenlit and in the works, the tech giant did not own a single one of them"

Say what? This must me wrong? They are building av catalog with stuff that can be taken away?

I always thought they paid other studios to make it, but that they owned it?

The first thing on ATV+ to pique my interest.

Same deal with Disney+, outside of The Mandalorian I just don't see the point of it. Netflix has so much to watch I kind of feel sorry for these upstarts, they've really got a mountain to climb.

This is the one and only thing on ATV+ that I'm even vaguely interested in. Unfortunate that it will an ATV+ "exclusive".
Band of brothers and Pacific were both absolutely superb television series.

Apple TV+ is so off the mark as to what paid streaming content is all about! Two “has been” old movie stars together, with each having big salary is not it! LOL! People want heavy crime drama action series, not a comedy about TV anchor readers. Who are the paid premium channel subscribers? People who are young that have disposable income. That is people in the 14+ age and that are mostly male! No female wants to watch old broads doing a TV comedy about TV anchors and paid for it too!

I love the TV series, Twelve O’Clock High!

Will there be a new AppleTV? The current one is stone old and I will not buy it for that price.
I’ve got to believe that Apple isn’t going to miss the opportunity to launch a new AppleTV along with their service at the late October event.

The existing AppleTV is fine but I’ll bet there’ll be a good reason to upgrade, notably better Apple Arcade performance and most likely a new remote.

I’m waiting for a new AppleTV as well. I still have the older version and want to upgrade to 4K but I’m not buying this 2 year old device for full price.

What about a price drop?

I got a 4th gen at launch which was 4 years ago and still works great, especially with the latest updates.

Plus, keep in mind that you will get 1 year of AppleTV+ when you buy a new or refurbished model (my friends wanted a refurb but they quickly disappeared when they announced the free year)...

while my personal tastes agree with you, I think they’re going to do fairly well with that show.

Could be an interesting series, but I'd also like to see a series that focused on the Doolittle Raiders? Perhaps they could do that next?

Not a fan of WWII drama, would love more sci-fi instead but glad to see many like it.

Now just announce that Foundation series will you?

This has got me thinking what BoB and the Pacific (BoB is almost like a comedy compared to the Pacific) would have been like in Apple TVs hands. I'm not sure they would have had the same impact.
It would be hard to convey the true brutality of the Pacific theatre without showing some of the most graphic scenes ever filmed (and by all accounts they toned them down).
I'm sure this will be good but I'm also think it'll be Memphis Belle good.

Incredibly excited for this. Band of Brothers is one of my favorite shows of all time, and something I watch every year or so. The Pacific is also great, although much darker!

By far the #1 thing I’m excited about with the new service.
There simply aren’t enough Saving private Ryans, Dunkirks, etc in the world.

really looking forward to “1917”

Wow. I didn’t watch Pacific, but Band of Brothers was flipping great!

If you thought BoB was great, do yourself a favor and watch The Pacific. I think the Spielberg and Hanks collaboration continued to grow and develope and it showed in the filming of that second series. I would bet on the third series being the best of the three.

Huh. Shows how out of the loop I am. Didn't even know this was a thing. Looks interesting.
Take it you also liked Journeys End.
Oooo, I somehow missed that! Gotta check it out.
I’d watch a quality WW1/2 film every month if I could haha

Apple TV+ is going to be very big. Apple have money to hire all the people they want. It’s just matter of time when Apple TV is most famous TV/movie service.

When you think all the services, it’s very hard to find any good original content. Apple is clearly trying to build very strong catalogue of content from the begin and in long run that’s going to be their strong selling point.
or we can hope
