and here i thought this was gonna be a thread about trading in macs for Dells running Windows XP. now thats the worst thing you can do to your Mac. imagine the depression the poor little guy would have the rest of his life. he'd beg to modded because at least it would be attention.

The macs don't need to be modded. They already look great. The designers at apple do a good job so there is no reason to change what they have done. With pcs on the other hand 50% of them look ugly as s**t. The pc designs are starting to look better now though.

I noticed a couple of months ago that you can actually go to CompUSA and buy "modded" computers right off the shelf. I at first just noticed a lot of people with what I thought were modded computers with clear covers and neons all over, but then one day I was at CompUSA to buy Age of Empires II and saw a whole row of these computers that were basically black boxes with a fiberglass panel and blue, red, or green neons inside.

I've been waiting to see a new iMac base painted some creative way, or even as a bowling ball cut in half. Art takes so many forms.

i gotta admit... i think the lights are pretty cool... that green ibook is plain silly though.

c'mon, who doesn't miss the dalmation and flowered imac of yore?!? ;)

:D

Cosmetic mods are cool in my book. If other people don't like the new look, tough. It's your computer. Do whatever you want to do with it. I am rather surprised that more Mac owners don't express their creativity in this way. Sure, they look good out of the box - but everyone else who bought one has one that looks the same. If you think that you could do a better mod than these guys did, prove it. Show us some pictures of the final product. I would actually be very interested in seeing what some Mac users who are professional artists could come up with.
