And my answer to whether you should do this as an 'investment' is no—even accounting for inflation, this is way more expensive than buying a first gen iPhone, and it's a big gamble. I don't believe a first-gen sealed Apple Watch goes for that much, nor a first-gen iPad. You would have to have it be a massive huge perfect hit, and then wait 15 years for a return on your investment.

I had a smiliar thought of trying buy 3…and sell 2 of them at a 50% markup to desperate early adopters…then keep the third as a free one to use. It really comes down to what the market would bear on them in the first 8-10 weeks.

A bit too risky for me. I’d hate to have to deal with some BS where a person claim they received a broken device or it was “delivered to the wrong address and they didn’t sign for it,” or any other crap they would come up with.

Keep in mind the value associated with the original iPhone is not just because of the widespread love for the device, it’s also due to the aura around Steve Jobs. There is a story to tell about his determination, rise, and success. With Vision Pro, there is no such story around Tim Cook except for the way he says “good morning.”
This is a great point and not something I considered. The iPhone was much bigger than just another piece of tech history. So many factors other than it being "the first" come into play here.

Also many more people will want to buy The Vision Pro for later profits compared to the original iPhone and $3500 is a huge gamble. I've decided I'm going to sit this one out.

If you invest your £3,500 to an average interest rate of 4% (definitely doable) over 15 years, it'd be worth £5,600 then. Might be a better and safer investment?

Collectors already bought theirs. So let me ask you? Would you buy an iPhone 3G new in the box? Probably not..

Don't buy this to keep new in the box... Its probably an expensive blunder

But this is why you be a hold out and don't sell your sealed Vision Pro until everyone parts ways with there's. Might take longer like 30 years but eventually you will have a device sealed that no one else has.
The only way I'd have this device in 30 years is if they buried it with me. 😁
