Worth it to join ADC? :D

Since Leopard is coming next year, and Merom will make it into MBPs soon I'm actually considering signing up for an ADC membership to get the one time hardware discount as well as free leopard when it is released 😀

Reckon it is a swell idea? 😀 😀

If you buy a high-end machine (say a PowerMac with a RAM and hard drive upgrade) the developer discount actually saves you more than the cost of membership. However, there are some things in the terms and agreements that you should be aware of.
1. A machine bought with the developer discount is not actually allowed to be used for anything other than development.
2. A machine bought with the developer discount is not allowed to be sold for at least one year after purchase (or maybe its 2 years.. i can't remember)

How much is the discount normally?

Since I'll be going back to college later in the year to start on a honours degree, and the MeromBooks are targetted to be out by then I'm really keen on these potential savings 😛

I'm a Comp Sci geek so I guess my machine will be used for "development" 😀

Like the above poster said, the developer discount is only really good if you buy expensive hardware.

I think you can get just as good a discount through Amazon or something if you are buying, say, an Intel Mac mini.
