I am the biggest fool on earth, managing to damage my new iPad Pro 11“ 3 weeks in... it dropped and now there’s this ugly little scar on the screen, right in the middle of it. I know it‘s basically nothing, but it really annoys me every time I pick up the device now and read something on a white page because of this little rainbow effect that it gives...

Luckily I have Apple Care plus for the device.

I‘m thinking should I replace it right now, just to have the joy of a new device again? Or should I wait after a January Thailand journey, just in case anything else occurs, and maybe it bents or something?
How would you guys decide?

Personally speaking, if it looks like it does in your photo, that would bug the hell out of me and I would definitely be using AC+. But I am also super anal so YMMV haha.

If you're about to go on a trip with it, I'd replace it after. You also get the added benefit of not having to care about it whatsoever on your trip.

Totally wait until after the Thailand journey. Hell I would even use it naked without a case and not have a care in the world about how I treat it.

Yea it does bug the hell out of me, it’s crazy annoying on such a new device. I agree, my brain tells me to wait till mid January till after my trip, but my gut just wants a new one immediately:D

Yeah, if it’s bothering you enough now, you’ll never NOT see that scratch. I say replace so you’ll have a new device for your trip and you won’t obsess over the scratch (like I probably would).

Aren't you in the holiday return period? Couldn't you just return it? Obviously it's questionable ethically but something you theoretically could do.

Ya wait incase it bends in your backpack lol.

You might want to double-check your return policy, especially if you ordered it online. In another thread, many of us were noting that though we had bought the iPPs on launch day (which was before the holiday return policy), Apple's website was giving us through the holiday to return them. Just a thought!
