I'd buy a 32 inch iMac as I'd put it to use to make money.

I've used systems with over 1 TB of RAM. It's amazing how fast you can use up resources these days.

I bet it is. But that’s not good enough. You need more. 1TB ram is small fry to you now that you have used it. Must have 2TB. And don’t be silly. You’re moving into the iMac now? 32” is way too small, this is macrumors, we are people, we demand at LEAST a 100 FOOT iMac. Then when you get it, too small, definitely wouldn’t recommend anything less than 200 foot and up.

I was working on the cloud in my previous job. I suspect that the machine actually had far more than 1 TB of RAM. I was just allocated 1.2 TB in a virtual machine. I would imagine the facility to have PBs of RAM. These were configured with hundreds of cores and a ton of storage. Cloud scale is just nuts with hardware.

I almost went with an iMac, but decided on the MacBook Pro 13 with 16gig and 1tb ssd, as store had it in stock
