My memory management actually seems better than it was in snow leopard, but again this is only my second day of the transition. I don't know if you've seen this, and it might be troublesome to go through but.. roaringapps.com has a list of compatibility, swell as user comments on issues that may exist. May be worth checking out for your important applications at least.

I did, but that list hasn't changed since Lion was launched.

I'm feeling a bit charmed, I just upgraded to Lion, and have encountered none of the problems so many others have reported..

One of the big changes is with Mac Mail, if you use that, new format is great.. Also, there's a few other cosmetic changes, and the part where what you typed is read back to you is kind of weird, especially so for me coming on the heels of my Siri equipped iPhone..

The scroll feature now works 'backwards', that's going to take some getting used to, but

The number one reason I recommend upgrading is for the security upgrades, that alone makes it worthwhile to me.

No....

Please don't do it, it's the worst OS I've ever used - Sure its fine if all you’re doing is running brand new software on a shiny new MacBook Air - but let’s say you’re a creative with a workhorse MBP that’s a tool not a toy - using a suite of software that’s evolved over years - bought, begged and borrowed but all essential to your job. Then you make the move to Lion.

Your Photoshop, illustrator, etc. stop working; your NAS is no longer available on your network, your monitor calibration software no longer functions. Your Toast is toast. And to top it all a machine that ran like the wind using Snow Leopard on a SSD now runs like a bloated PC – Please don’t tell me that’s progress.

so did you do it yet? i m only 1 month on my new imac and it had leopard so i palyed with it for a month but now with 10.7.2 i think to move on.
Just worry if a clean instal is better or not !!!

I haven't upgraded yet. Simply because I have no real need right now and SL is already such a charm to use.

I will eventually though. That's why I made this topic. Input from users is very much appreciated.

I upgraded yesterday.

What I'm experiencing now is my MBP having half it's regular battery life and my RAM being heavily taxed. Less than 20MB of free RAM is left.

Is this normal to have? Since these issues are exactly the reason why I was reluctant to switch.

About a month into Lions. It runs fine and the installation was easy...but really not much difference from SL.

My MPB has a battery life of two hours now. This is insane.
Is there a fix for this? Did I do something wrong?

just installed OSX 10.7.2 at Apple store today it runs great and snappy..I am happy now :D

Have fun working with mission control in a real workflow with 10+ windows. You'll facepalm and revert back to SL

What are my options about the horrible battery life right now?

I read that resetting the SMC should help, but after doing that my battery status indicator merely jumps from 2 to 4 hours and back.

I made daily backups with Time Machine, can I use those for a clean install, reinstall or a downgrade?

Is there anyone who can give me some help with this? I don't know what to do.

I get about 4 hours of solid battery life and it's annoying the crap out of me.

Did you do a clean install or just upgrade? You can try a clean install if you upgraded. It also never hurts to reset your PRAM and calibrate your battery.

I upgraded, didn't do the clean install.

Is there an easy way to do a clean install with my Time Machine backups?

I'm pretty sure you can clean install Lion then use migration assistant to move all your personal files and apps over. When I upgraded I did a clean install, then re-installed all my apps by 'hand' (not using migration assistant). I was surprised to find that all my iLife '09 apps that came with SL installed and worked under lion. Once all my apps were freshly installed I moved all my personal data over from time machine backups, ie: iTunes stuff, iPhoto library, docs...etc. It took a bit longer but I haven't run into any problems others are reporting. I'd give it a shot if you are unsatisfied with the upgrade option, FWIW it was super easy.

So far I haven't noticed any change in battery life or running temps. Lion seems to use a bit more ram to run the OS, my base SL usage was about 1GB. Lion seems to be about 1.25GB. I'm on 4GB of ram and all is well performance wise. Now if I could figure out how to stop the scroll bounce when you reach the bottom or sides of a page.
