Best Buy currently has a Series 4 44mm Cellular for $379. I wasn’t considering the cellular before I saw this. Question, for those that have the 4 and/or 5, based off this price, would you recommend S4 cellular or non-cellular S5?

That is a very good price. However, if you don’t ever use cellular, it doesn’t make sense to pay extra for such a feature.

I have the s5 cellular and use it all the time.

I would buy it out right so I would have to have it on every month. Thought it might be a nice feature if I needed it at some point. Would love to hear from someone who went from a 4 to 5 to see if they feel it’s worth it. Thank you.

Hi,

I got an s5 cellular (my first apple watch ever) and one of the main reasons I choose the s5 over the s4 was because I was attracted by the screen always on. After a few days I saw that the battery life goes down very fast (for me at least), so in the end (for the moment) I ended up not using the "screen always-on" feature. And I do not mind at all (as I had before an old Fitbit, and for a couple of days the Fitbit Versa, and I was used to that).
But I love the cellular version, and I use it all the time. So I can forget the phone at home, go for a run, or walk around the office without bringing my phone.

I went from a series 4 SS LTE to a 5 SS LTE and no, it's not worth it. Aside from 'always' on display, there's really nothing compelling to upgrade. I had an offer for my S4 that I thought was more than fair, so I upgraded.
What about the compass app!? Jk. I’m also a series 4 SS owner and was honestly kind of relieved that I wouldn’t get FOMO seeing how minor the update in the series 5 was. Series 4 still feels very ”new.”

Never considered storage as an issue. I’m coming from the series so I know either would be a HUGE upgrade. Trying to get the best value and I think that is the S4. Thank you all for the input provided so far.

The question you should ask yourself, do you want the ‘always on display’ or not? Because if you don’t, then opt for the Series 4, they share the same processor as it is. But the big differential between both models would be the ‘always on display’.

Great price and cellular option is awesome if you want to leave the house without a cellphone but still want to be reachable. You can turn it off if you want to save battery, so I think it’s great to have.

OP,
During the first several days of use, the battery life is all over the place (so to speak). Afterwards, I have found the battery life to be pretty consistent. I have everything turned in and am able to make a full day's use with ease.

I didn't think I would really care about AOD coming from a s3. Once I tried it, I found it to be a worthy upgrade and one that made using the watch even more useful.
