Is anyone running a Yosemite beta on a 2009 MBP? If it works great then I'll probably hang onto it.

I'm out of space on mine and wondering if I should upgrade the SSD for about $200 or just put the money toward a new Mac. My wife uses this machine for iPhoto and web -- that's about it. It serves as home base for all of our photos and video. So I guess I'm already talking myself out of a new Mac, but I'd hate to upgrade it and then have trouble with the new Photos app next year. What would you guys do?

I just moved from a 2009 13", with 8gb and SSD to an "old" 15" 8/256.

Loving it. Fast. Really fast in comparison. I moved over as little as I could and track HDD space after each install and/or move to find where things were going and now have lots of room.

By old - I am talking about the version that was new a week ago.

How fast? I do some DVD rip with Handbrake. It used to take over an hour per DVD. I did 3 DVDs last night in under one hour.
