The S0 is painstakingly slow, like it ruins the smartwatch experience. I was shocked when I upgraded to S4. It's so worth upgrading from S0.

I have a 2nd generation, and think it may be time for me to upgrade. The 2 is still getting updates, but I had to reset the watch to install the most recent os. It still does almost everything that I need, but it doesn’t support Apple Fitness. I was hoping to hold off till more sensors were added, so I’m still on the fence. If I had a series one, I think the decision would be easier.

I am really impressed by the fact that Apple devices are being supported for as long as they are. I still have the 6S+ phone, and am shocked that it will continue to be supported in iOS 15. Even so, I’m springing for the iPhone 13. That makes the watch decision a little harder due to $$$.

I’m still rocking a S0 Stainless Steel Silver with matching silver apple butterfly link strap. With my iPhone 12 Mini.
I think I might finally update this year, as I love the look of the bigger screen/ thinner bezels, and I’ll admit to being a little jealous of the S6 I bought the missus last year. It will have to be Stainless Steel Silver again to continue with same strap, but I guess I’ve had my moneys worth out of the S0.

I still have my SS S0 and an SS Series 5. The 5 is my daily driver, the S1 is a backup when I am low on battery.
For most uses, the S0 (now on its third battery refit) works just fine!
Look at what you are doing with your watch and whether you need the new water resistance for swimming, apps, ECG, or fall detection. If not, save your money.

I have the original, it works and I wear it...but it's very slow. An upgrade, even if it's to a Series 4 perhaps 5...you will see a massive difference.

Plus these still get updates, new watch faces if you like that.
My 4 still works great, just updated to OS8. Battery is not the greatest anymore...but other than that, I still love it.

My Stainless Steel Black S0, I got a replacement battery last Aug. (swelled up and pushed the screen out) Apple agreed to "replace the battery" which just meant giving me a replacement watch.

*For a brief second I thought they sent me a Series 2..but no. Still a S0. 😆

Depends what you’re using it for if it’s just something to tell time then no. If you’re using it for fitness and Apple Pay then for sure. I went from a 2 to a 4 and the difference was night and day. Going to order a 7 this week
Going to order a 7 this week? How?

Boo… ;) they wouldn’t replace mine, mind you it was an Apple reseller I went to as an actual Apple store is around 3 hours drive away and was full of covid in that city at the time. So I had to buy one on ebay and replace it myself. Never mind, it still got me through another year. I only use the rings watchface and (primarily) the photos watchface - it’s the water resistance and new health monitors that would make it worthwhile for me. Just gotta see what budget I have left after the next batch of Macs launch…

Ah ok. I did forget to mention I did pay $79 for the replacement - (whole replacement watch, I guess they don't deal replacing these tiny batteries on older..make that OLD models). They did quote me $299 at first...which would have been a tough choice for an outdated watch. I made my case though that I bought this original SS Black for $$$ - which...um I did, but didn't, (Didn't certainly pay the $1000+ when these came out) it was just a few after the release and by total accident. I found this at Micro Center - with a major website price screw up of $203 in June 2015. Odd price, seemed too good to be true...but it was honored. :)

I almost think the super strict Genius Bar appointments last Summer, very brief 10-15min interactions kind of helped me a bit. They seemed to just want to get you in and out...no long appointments.

As slow as the Series 0 is, the battery in this is far better than my 4 Silver Stainless Steel series. If Apple does quote me some $300 fee for replacement again - no budging w/ the price, I'll probably try the fix myself.

I've seen the YouTube DIY videos...whew, like delicate surgery but I'm confident I could do it.
