Well the title says it all really. Im not a heavy user and i dont tend to notice a great deal of slowdown, however theres a special offer on 5300 DDR2 1gb sticks and was wondering if its worth upgrading from 1.25gb to 2gb? Also, will I be able to run sticks of two different brands in the same laptop?

If it is a very good offer, it won't be a bad decision.

But if you feel you would never need 2GB, you could use that money in other things.

Yes, you can mix different brands of sticks.

You can never have too much ram :)

Although if you are only word processing etc. you can be forgiven for breaking the "you can never have too much ram" rule

Since you need to buy only one stick, go for it. I have 2x512MB in my MacBook, so it would cost me twice as much. 200GB harddisk first for me.
