I wonder if the OP was expecting such a heated debate about Boston to erupt when they posted this??

:D

God, it's a good thing I didn't pull up any stats on New Orleans lest it turn into a President Bush did that, or didn't to that, post-Hurricane Katrina, and that's what explains the crime there. BTW, I like New Orleans jazz too as well as the miracle seasons of the Boston Red Sox and the Detroit Tigers

Maybe my San Jose really needs to get into the crime, gangs, and urban decay business in order to have the Sharks do well in hockey. Those Sharks, they just don't get respect.

$18000 for a home anywhere regardless of the local economy is extremely low. It has to be a run down POS or taxes owned. There was also an article the other day how some of these houses are condemned and are scheduled to be demolished by the city but the owner still sells them on ebay or other markets.

I was originally from Cleveland where the job market and economy is just as bad and I can tell you $18000 for any foreclosed house would buy you one hunk of garbage or a house near a very dangerous area and extremely small.
