I'd be surprised if Apple didn't "fix" these antenna issues soon with a new model (that will be basically the exact same, but not suffer from it so badly). I can't imagine Apple would continue to sell the iPhone 4 with this publicised flaw (whether you think it is major or minor) for the next two years.

They'll slyly fix it with a new batch of models, and anyone who complains, Apple can just say "this issue affected a small number of iPhone's and we will replace them".

won't happen..too many have already been sold...if this were to happen and word got out that a hardware revison occured, everyone that bought the launch version would call for Steve's head....Apple doesen't view it as a "flaw" but rather an anomaly that occurs with all smartphones...we must accept our free bumpers and wait until next summer

But lot's of people don't like the Bumper.... They think it would damage the back of the iphone4:eek:

The antenna gate problem deosn't only happen (unique) on iphone4. Basically all would have their own death grip, and the signal bar drop by the death grip would only occur in bad signal area.

I knew this becuase I've tested other phone, nokia N97 mini does the same thing. This is a video taken by me.:D

there will be no stealth fix. Anything that's done to the phone that would change anything with radio transmission or sar levels would require more approvals from the FCC which could not be kept secret. And the second they got approval, Apple would be in for a worse crapstorm than they already got in the media. Especially after that press conference.

I'm not sure if this whole "put a coating on it" thing is a real solution to this.

I mean, Apple demonstrated how other smartphones exhibit some signal attenuation, and this is without physically touching the antenna. Proximity seems to matter. And being right up on the antenna, even with something between you doesn't cure it 100%. I doubt some uber-thin polymer coating is going to make the dropped signal issue go away.

I could be wrong, but based on what we've seen and what's been demonstrated to us thus-far, it makes sense to me. Just some thoughts.

In any event, I'm confident that 2011 will bring about a modified body design to alleviate this. But until then, it's the old "use a case" solution or nuthin'.

Dude. Open your eyes. Apple lied to your face. The iPhone 4 has a problem with *detuning*. Detuning is NOT attenuation. They are not the same thing.

A sh**ty case will not fix attenuation problems, but it will fix detuning problems. This is why they are giving out free bumpers/cases.

How are there people that still don't understand this? Its not like it hasn't been all over the internet for a month.
