Easy answer. Buy this MacBook. Sell it when the new version arrives, and buy Gen 2, if its specs are what you want (if Skylake shows a huge performance or battery improvement, if there are more USB C ports). There is a healthy market for used Macs still, and you're probably out $350 to upgrade, or $30 a month if you've had the machine for a year. Worth a buck a day? Yep, definitely.
This machine is quite good for what it is. In fact, it's become my main device (my second is a very powerful Hackintosh I built for $650 - not 100% stable but sufficiently so for my needs - so if I need performance, I just switch to the desktop machine).
