First i just want to say, don't jump down my throat for this, it is a very legitimate question.

I have to say, in the last two weeks i've gotten pretty excited about it and i plan to get one, but even if i manage to, I have to admit in the back of my mind, I do worry about getting robbed, by having one. It's strange how much commerce and products define society. I remember reading about about the PS3 launch and I was just like WTF is wrong with this planet. Sony created a situation where there would be a shortage that they knew would cause potential harm.

I'm have to say if something like this happened to me, i definately wouldn't find it worth it. That isn't to say i think it will happen to me, or that it has changed my mind. It's just something to think about. I mean regardless of if it happens to me or not, it's probably going to happen to someone, if there is a shortage. Has anyone else thought about this or am i just paranoid?

You're not paranoid. But take off that tinfoil hat... :p

All joking aside, I don't think the iPhone quite reaches the level that a console launch has, as far as target demographic. I don't see a bunch of spiky-haired, 50-year old skate rats waiting to mug you (just for the record, I'm bald).

While in certain markets there may be a bit of excitement and even early-morning campers, I think it will be relatively well-mannered, at least until the store manager hangs the "iPhone Sold Out" sign.

If you've got a more suburban Cingular/AT&T store, be there before opening, it hopefully will be a little more civil. Or, just order online from Apple. Unless your FedEx guy is a skate rat.
