I have the series 6 but I was wondering bout thE 8. Is it a good upgrade. What is the display difference if getting the 8. Can u tell the difference from 6. I was going to get the ultra but I really don’t like the thickness. I also like my gold stainless steel with leather band. The ultra is just one color.

I'm currently in the same situation. Ultra is a little too THICC for my taste but kinda disappointed in the lack of new features for the Series 8. Deciding between a refurbished Series 7, new Series 8 or holding on for another year.

Series 7 Added:
20% larger display (compare the AW Series 8 to the AW SE to get an idea of the display size difference)
Brighter display when the watch isn't "awake" (supposedly similar brightness to when the display is active)
IP6X Dust Resistance
33% faster charging
USB-C charging cable included
On-Screen Keyboard

Series 8 Added:
Temperature Sensor
Car Crash Detection

The way to tell is to do the comparison of the S8 vs the SE on the Apple website.
It has the dimensions and will show you the screen differences from a size perspective.

You will notice a difference - I tried on a S7 and it has the same screen as the S8. Compared to my 6, it seemed a lot larger

I have silver stainless steel S4 and I don't think S8 is a good upgrade for me. if I had an aluminum version, I would be more inclined to upgrade, but SS drop their value like a rock, so I am holding off with an upgrade till either my S4 dies or there is something that would wow me - thus far there is nothing worth going from S4 to S8 and in between in my opinion.

In your case, since you already have S6, the only compelling reason would be slightly bigger screen, everything else is insignificant and not sure if it is worth mentioning. If money is no issue, I would go for the latest each time :)

Thanks guys. The screen size does a lot more larger than the 6 because the 6 has more bezel. I’ll see in the morning if I’m gonna get the 8. My main priority is the iPhone 14 pro max 1 tb. I do have the 6 to trade in tho so we’ll see

Yeah we’ll see because the trade in for my SS gold is only 180. I paid like 800 for it lol

There's actually been a lot of changes in aggregate from S4 to S8 (especially considering how few new features are introduced each year). I went from an S4 to S6 and was pretty pleased.

The bigger, always-on display would be very noticeable coming from an S4.

After yesterdays keynote I've stopped expecting radical updates like we've had with the iPhone (or with the S4) the Apple Watch just doesn't run on that cycle. At best the S9 is probably getting a faster chip (which the S6 did) and some of the features from the AW Ultra. We won't see another new sensor for a while.

There's still a refurbished Series 7 Stainless Steel available from Apple at a pretty significant discount that might interest you.

I was gonna say that…yes, it’s a good upgrade “if” you can get a good price for your current SS 6 (ie enough to cover much of what you spent on it). But, if you have to essentially give the 6 away, I’d say hang onto it until we get some major upgrades on the AW.

Don't trade-in SS models. No one will give you what they're worth. Sell it on eBay, Craigslist or FB Marketplace and you should be able to fetch closer to $300

If you factor in that your series 6 should need a battery change soon…
