It won't work under OS X. It isn't supported.

Let's say I'm using it for just windows.
will the card fit and work?

I know the guy got the 8800 GTX working but I don't know about GTS.

If the GTX works I'd assume the GTS works.

In the 8800 lineup, it goes

    GTS -> GTX -> Ultra

Since the GTX is the higher-mid end level, I'd assume the slightly weaker GTS would work ok also then by default.

I have no idea whatsoever, again I'm just going based off the order the cards came in.

GTS is 9" long, the GTX/Ultra are 10.5" long. So, yes, it will fit. As for driver support on the Windows end...again, if your friend's GTX works, I don't see why the GTS wouldn't also work.

Sort of. You need a special cable but it works with a standard 6pin PCIe port.

Go to your local Apple Retailer, walk up to the help desk, and tell them you'll buy this replacement part: 922-7128

You should be able to get it for ~$10. Online it's $30.

have you read the reviews? Everyone loves it.
I heard there are few problems with it while running Maya... but I think the BETA drivers fixed em all.

If I could have any card, this would be it...unfortunately Apple will stick us with another ATI card again.
By the way, this is an Ultra as in ultra cool.

Hey, Man.. I just went to the San Francisco Apple Store and they had no idea what I was talking about.
they searched the product number but nothing came up.
He tried like 4 times but nothing. I went to the cashier and asked if they sell Replacement parts there but they said they dont sell anything that specific... what am i to do? When the card gets here, can I still run it?

They are morons. That IS a real Apple part number.

If you want to pay a reasonable price, your best bet is to find an Apple store NOT run by Apple.

If you want the quick way out, you can pay $30 and get one from here:

Sorry that didn't work out for you. Silly bastards don't even know their own part numbers.

If you're feeling really adventurous, you can make your own cable:

Gah... I would make one for myself but instructions are a bit complicating. I don't wanna stress over it...
    Subtotal: $29.95
    Shipping: $11.15
    Tax: $2.47
    Total: $43.57

geeessshhhh haha... for a piece of cable.. I bet they're banking on this product!

Just recieved!! I tried out Oblivion and I must say I'm pretty damn impressed!
This thing just handles it with no problems!
Everything was a smooth installation. No troubleshooting.
I heard the BETA drivers will help the card work better but nothing out yet for me. great card though =)
