iPod Would You Buy 240GB iPod Classic

I actually was thinking of upgrading my MacBook's HDD, since I only have 20GB remaining out of a paltry 80GB. At least 120GB should be enough for me (I knew I should've brought the mid-range MacBook instead). 🙄
Maybe it is just me but it makes no sense to drop the top capacity design [hard drives] when the files on iTS just get bigger and bigger. No sense at all. Flash prices aren't dropping fast enough for the iPod Touch to be a legitimate replacement for the classic, I'm certainly not paying $400-$500 for a 64GB touch.
I understand that most people don't feel the need to carry "everything" with them but where I have ADD with my musical tastes it certainly is the best solution for me.
I use my Zune16/Shuffle when I go to the gym but in everything else my classic rides with me.
That being said I'd rather upgrade my 5G battery and put in the 240GB HD in that than use the classic because the performance is better and the sound quality is better in my opinion.
If I didn't have a 5G laying around I would buy a 240GB Classic. Too much capacity? No such beast.

While a 240 GB iPod classic based on the larger 6G iPod classic case design sounds viable, I don't think Apple wants do it because the vast majority of iPod users like the thinner classic design.
A more viable option--if Apple wants to produce the classic one more year--is to go to a 160 GB single-platter drive, something that is definitely within reach very soon given how fast platter density is improving.

Ummmm, OK, so you have established that, starting from your assumptions, a large iPod is unnecessary. Cool for you, the current topper is 120GB and you're all set.
People who start with different assumptions about convenience, personal preferences, etc. may not agree with your conclusions. And some obviously don't. Looks like you have very cleverly picked up their reluctance to agree with you. Good on ya there too!
But your argument is unlikely to change any minds because it basically only says "You are wrong about what you want in an iPod because I have told you that you are wrong." You'd be better off just telling us what works for you without trying to project it on everyone else.
To answer the question, I'd love an XL capacity iPod, whether 160, 200, 240, or 320GB. My 5th Gen 60GB está muerto and I am considering a refurbished 160. (Any advice out there... Refurb 160GB vs new 120GB?)

You know, the "you can't listen to it in a day" argument misses the point for me. My little First Gen shuffle is more than adequate, by this measure. But it's a wee bit limiting.

- Quicker syncs: When I create new playlists the tunes are preloaded.
- It's annoying to manage playlists, as I've had to do for the past 3-4 mos. as my 60GB has hit the size limit.
- I know I'll end up using the space in a couple of years, based on my usage history.
- I'd like to keep more movies on it.
- It's fun to pull up a long-forgotten song that my pals and I may be talking about or whatever.
- I have even less luck guessing what my kids will want to listen to in the car.
- I like having the slack space available for carrying around other files.

I let my 5-year old choose sometimes. She has her own playlist on my iPod. She's got a pretty wide-ranging taste in music: Rhianna, Pink, Del McCory Band, Rascal Flatts, Culture Club, Diana Ross, Creedance Clearwater Revival. She also has some kiddie music that she can listen to only so often though.
