no.
i can see why a lot of people would go for it, me personally, no. that will never happen, heck i wish the regular ipad was a touch bigger, and my phone suffices perfectly for when i need to use a smaller screen. i just cant see myself finding sufficient use for a 7" screen to justify the purchase.

Let's see smaller screen and less battery life maybe if it was half the price.

Around the same price no.

I'd buy a top end model, even if it overlaps the iPad....

TBH, I'll pick up one of these, or a Fire, depending on which comes to the UK first....

Are you talking about a $99 iPad with a 7.85" screen?
Are you talking about a $199 iPad with a 7.85" screen?

Are you talking about a $399 iPad with a 7.85" screen?
Are you talking about a $499 iPad with a 7.85" screen?
Are you talking about a $599 iPad with a 7.85" screen?
Are you talking about a $699 iPad with a 7.85" screen?
Are you talking about a $799 iPad with a 7.85" screen?

Are you talking about a $999 iPad with a 7.85" screen?
Are you talking about a $1099 iPad with a 7.85" screen?

The pole is kind of meaningless unless you specify a price point. You will find that a lot more people will buy a $99 iPad with a 7.85" screen than there are that would buy a $1099 iPad with a 7.85" screen.

Nonsense. The simple option is to assume its not more than the current iPad, maybe a bit cheaper.

If the price within that range affects whether you buy it then that makes you a "maybe"

i certainly would. after using my original iPad for two years, i found that i was using it less and less mainly because of its size and weight. something a bit smaller would be absolutely perfect although i can see the practicality of the current size too.

I voted no. I mean, the current iPad size is just about the minimum possible to make "full" websites usable. Any smaller and I'm going to be doing a lot of zooming and switching to mobile versions of the sites. So I "need" a current size iPad. I also "need" an iPhone or iPod touch, so I have a pocket-size device to use while doing the laundry or walking down the street. The in-between sizes, like 5 inch or 7 inch, might be convenient in certain situations, yes, but not enough to make me go add a third device to my gadget arsenal. I can see why the size seems attractive to a lot of people, but I think that in the end, the market for the medium size device would be smaller than for the iPad or the iPhone / iPod touch.

Yes, I seem to find a use for every freaking Apple product in my house (3 kids and a wife) that it would definitely get some use. There are times when a full size iPad is not convenient and an iPhone screen is just too small.

Yes in a heartbeat. I have a couple of 7 inch tablets and a iPad. The 7 inch tablets get taken on the road, the 10 inch stays home. It is just so much easier to carry a 7 inch than a full battle size iPad.

I would have to agree with this...

This.

If the full-sized iPad had never been invented, probably, but I have two iPads already and can't see how this would improve my life in any way.

The "maybe" choice is interesting because they are the ones that are curious without having a dogmatic predisposition.

I know that most people scoffed at the iPad when it was first released, including me … but my initial criticism was about having to initialize it with a Mac or PC. Now iPad is its very own entity.

I answered no, but if they price it in impulse buy territory then sure.

I have an ATV2 & 3 and I didn't need either one of them.

Depending on the price and features and me still having my new iPad. I'm going to say it's maybe. Since, I'm an Apple enthusiast, there will be something (or not) to sway my decision.
