Would you buy a 7.85" iPad?

I most likely would. I really like the smaller 7" tablets (Samsung Tab 7.0 Plus and Kindle Fire) as they are more portable. However, I won't say definitely yes until I see price and specs.

I would think it will fall in-between the iPod touch and the iPad, price and specs-wise. My guess on price, $299.

If they do release an iPad mini, I hope it is between $300-$350. However, it wouldn't surprise me to see them price it at $400.

$400 would definitely surprise me. The iPad 2 is $399 and it's plenty larger than 7.85".

Depends. If it can fit into my pockets, then yes. If not, I might as well use the bigger version.

The iPad 2 has no retina display

Absolutely, I'll buy immediately. It will be just as good as my full size iPad & a lot more convenient for traveling with a laptop & other items I take on an international business trip.

It's about time they ignored the naysayers & offered size choices like they do in the laptop line. They'll sell loads & silence the hypocrites.

7.85" iPad makes a perfect take along GPS, with additional functionality. Many car gps screens are 7" already so this is only marginally bigger. I currently have a Samsung galaxy 7 plus which I use for this purpose. Nice thing about it is that when it's time to get out of the car, I unmount it and put it in my sons backpack and let him use it throughout the day to watch movies and play games. I actually like the Samsung, however, android is a bit too buggy for my liking. I own 2 iPads MacBook air, 2 iPhones, 2 appletv's and a macmini. I love my apple stuff, and a 7" iPad would keep me fully connected...

No, screen too small. I have a Playbook and although it's very good, its downfall is the small screen size.

Basically 50% are interested, and the other 50% … not interested.

If the price is right I would buy one. Considering I have an iPhone 4S, ipad 1 and ipad 2, it really is not needed but if it wasn't too expensive i'd probably find a use for it.

Yes when my wife is clothes shopping and I am having to sit in the store to offer my 'expert' opinion an iPad is too big to take with me and my iPhone makes me squint to read, so something in between would be great to slip in a jacket pocket.

I think an important point is being missed here....I'm pretty sure that Apple will introduce the smaller version of the iPad at a competitive price in order to bring the iPad experience to those less fortunate than many of us here.

It makes sense as long as it's affordable. I wouldn't buy one myself, I don't need two iPads, but perhaps those in developing countries could at least own a device they could otherwise not afford to purchase.
