Absolutely. The same warranty as brand-new products and none of that "new car" surcharge that it loses in value the minute you drive it off the lot / sign for the package.

I purchased a refurb monitor from Apple about 5 years ago. It arrived flawless and hasn't had a hint of a problem since then (I still use it daily). If I couldn't get an educational discount, I'd be buying refurbs for computers too.

I went ahead and took the majority of people's advice from here and bought a refurb. It has not worked out so well.

Ugh.. so sorry to hear that :(

You seem to be one of the unlucky few. Like a lot of other posters in this thread, I've bought refurb Macs and they were indistinguishable from new (except for the brown cardboard box). While I normally have reservations about buying refurb goods, I trust Apple's refurbs.

My brother once bought a refurb iPod that was DOA. Apple shipped him a new one without any hassles, but he did have to wait for it.

Hope it works out for you in the end...

I agree, refurbs are currently the most affordable way to purchase a new Apple product, outside of an educational discount.

I bought a 15" MBP 8 months ago, had 1 issue where it sometimes got stuck during bootup. According to the advice here, I reset the PRAM and was back to normal. This week I ordered a refurb iPad, its shipping from china as we speak. Leaving me to believe its new from the factory, not a store return.
