Admit it - Apple TV is a pointless buy.

I have an XBox One and it covers much of what Apple TV does.

Plus, my parents have cable so it's not a big draw for me.

However, if Apple were to offer Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Showtime plus Disney's upcoming streaming service etc without the subscription cost on an Apple TV, I would without a doubt get an Apple TV, as the benefits and convenience would far outweigh competition.

$199 for 64GB
$249 for 256GB

I also have an Xbox One. I find myself using the Apple TV more and the Xbox One less over time. Apple TV app has improved over time and I like the experience it presents. Also, Apple TV has an integration with iOS devices that Xbox lacks.

Different strokes for different folks, I suppose.

Pointless post.. everyone will have different priorities in regard to devices. I'd argue that the Xbox One is one of the worst for media consumption, so unless you have a gaming focus and lack a PS4, then sure.

The other point.. nobody is going to subsidize you for free streaming services. That isn't anyone's business model. It doesn't even make sense.

No, I would still buy the Apple TV. It all depends on your needs. Xbox and PS4 I personally only use to play video games.

But for me, Xbox one is a pointless buy. I will never play games, I have over 100 movies in iTunes, so AppleTV it is. Can you see why this question makes no sense without context?

If you're already in the Apple ecosystem, it is much easier to rent movies with an Apple TV than an Xbox One.
