Would you buy the rumored new Studio Display?

Greetings! With the rumored Studio Display 2 around the corner, I have a question to those who already own one — would you consider buying one when the new model comes out? If so, what makes you want it? If not, why?

In my case, I haven't made up my mind yet. I like Apple stuff, so I'd be tempted to get one when it's out. Promotion sounds enticing, though I work mostly with text. Cost isn't a concern either. On the other hand, I prefer a single-monitor setup. I could try a dual-monitor setup if needed, but I'm not sure whether two 27" monitors can be arranged without compromising aesthetics or comfort.

I would need to try out the new one in person at the Apple Store to get a feel for if the updates/upgrades are worth it.

I'm pretty happy with the current display, so it would take a very noticeable difference to get me to spend the money.

YES! But... it looks like a ton of high res monitors are coming to CES, so Apple will really need something special to justify their higher prices. And more than one input is NOT enough either but they need to implement that.

Apple really need to introduce a 27" and 32" Studio Display with Mini LED backlighting and 5K and 6K res. Pro motion etc.

I just bought a really nice 4k Benq for a fraction of what Apple charges.

One thing that the Benq does much better then the ASD is cross platform support, I run this both for my work laptop and my M4 Max Studio and it performs awesomely


Comparing RTINGS ratins for the ASD (left) and the BenQ MOBIUZ EX321UX (right) it really is a no brainer in my mind on which one to select.

We obviously don't know the specs of a newer model, but my point is that I have such a great monitor, that there's no reason to pay apple prices for a monitor that may not exceed what I already have

I love the ASD for the crisp text and accurate colors out of the box, but the poor contrast is laughably bad next to the MBP and OLED panels. I've been looking forward to a miniLED version for years now.
 
If they’d released it when the new Mac Studio came out earlier in the year, I’d have bought it without hesitation.

A year later, and I need convincing - especially when it comes to price.
 
Probably not. I have a 57" monitor I'm really happy with. It's a bit cartoony/toy-ish compared to a proper IPS panel, but I'm not doing anything color critical on it.

The 27" panel is nice but so small by today's standards. I used 34" ultrawide monitors for about 10 years. I can't imagine using anything smaller than that.

Maybe if they make a studio display that replaces the XDR I'd consider it? If they were cheap enough that I could get 2 of them lol.
 
Not at 27”. Promotion and miniLED aren’t compelling enough to upgrade. Even with a better camera, speakers and connectivity, it’s still a hard pass at that size.

I’d be more likely to upgrade to a 32”+ screen, whether that’s a new XDR or larger Studio Display.
 
Leaning towards no. The webcam isn't great but that's easy to get around with continuity camera. I still really like mine.

Irrespective of new or old, having two identical 27” monitors is a wonderful setup, especially if you are working with a lot of reading / cross-referencing / writing work. My problem is that I’d have to buy two identical ASDs in one feel swoop. And that’s a lot of money, but I wouldn’t go back to a single monitor or have mismatched monitors.
 
Between the crispness of the current Studio Display and Mac Virtual Display on the Vision Pro being so good, I can’t see splurging for another Apple monitor anytime soon.
 
depends on price, but I'm interested. in my case no camera is a selling point, my original ca 2000 lcd monitor has finally expired it was without camera - I've been accustomed to various workarounds - why stop now
