Hi
not excited about iPad Air. I was happy with original iPad but can't do IOS7. No 4th gen refurbs but looked at iPad 3rd gen. I can get 64GB refurb for price of a 16GB.

So storage or speed? Plus it has a 30 pin dock connector which all my stuff has.

Um, ios7 is just as laggy on the ipad 4 as it is on the ipad 3 I own both. After the update today it seems to be running much smoother., especially with the motion settings off. It seems Apple needs to spend more time on the ipad side of things firmware wise. It's getting better though.

iOS 7 runs just fine on my iPad 3. Would I get an older iPad now though, no. At most an iPad 4 refurb.

After a fresh install of 7.0.3 my ipad 3 has been pretty zippy. App Store and all, I've compared it to my 10 year olds ipad mini. No probs on either for the most part. I have the motion settings off as they are gimmicky anyway too me.

Only issue I have w/ my iPad 3 is weight. Otherwise I enjoyed it completely. But can't wait to sell & get an Air.

Ios7 is running just fine on my iPad 3, and the latest update seems to have only improved it. I would never swap my iPad 3 for an iPad 2. That would be ridiculous! The retina display, Siri, plus twice the RAM.....no way.

I am heartened by the fact that Apple is still selling the iPad 2, since it means the iPads 3 & 4 will probably get at least one more OS upgrade. However, I have a difficult time figuring why one would pay $400 for an iPad 2, when you can have the Air for $500????

I have an iPad 3 64GB Wifi only, and it has run iOS7 fine even before the latest update. The only issue I had before was changing wallpaper, which took forever and glitched out at times. I'll probably wait to get the next generation of iPads after these current models.

Believe me, ios7 runs terribly on the ipad3. The ipad 3 was a flawed product from the offset, I'm pretty certain it won't even be supported come iOS8.

If you must get a refurb, get an ipad4

Again speak for yourself guys, I along with at least 3 others in this thread have ios7 running fine on a ipad 3. Especially after iOS 7.0.3. But it does make sense to get the 4th gen refurb.

I've compared my 3 next to my 10 year olds mini. They run almost identical.

Thank you for that news. I might hold off then.

Absolutely not true. I have iOS 7 on iPad 3 and it's actually working very well. It was very slugglish when I first upgraded but I swear a restart did wonders!

People like to pick on the iPad 3, well... guess what else got discontinued? iPad 4!

Thanks, may have to be a 3, can't find a 4. I am going to an Apple store tomorrow, maybe they have reduced store stock (UK)

No worries, but hey, actually if the 4 is only $20 more, you might want to wait to get that anyway; I assume at thsi point there is much more 4 stock than 3
